Pakistan is increasingly becoming country of Mafias and Pressure Groups. Where Truth, Proof or intentions are nothing.... Only thing what matters is that who can shout loudly and who have more people with him to shout. People think that there is no need to give any proof or valid argument to justify what one person is saying.

Media is big part of the problem we are in ... I don't have any doubt that they are not intended for any solution or part of any solution with current level of reporting and attitude.

On Saleem Shahzad's issue; Death of any "innocent" is regrettable but when we blame someone and say in same sentence that we don't have any proof; I loose respect for the argument right there....  Here is one statement of example.

Dawn News: Zohra Yusuf, head of the independent Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), added to intense speculation that the military's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), one of the most powerful institutions in a country with a weak civilian government, may have had a hand in the death of Shahzad, a father of three.

"We don't have any conclusive evidence. But the circumstances seem to point to state security agencies because there have been other cases where journalists have been picked up. It's a very disturbing trend," she told Reuters.

Today morning when I woke up; I saw major news of 28 Security personal killed by Terrorist's attack ... The time I reached office; and check news sites after few hours .... That news was thing of past and no follow up was reported or any remorse from anyone on incident.

Same kind of issue did happened few days ago when Media reporting (In my view) was criminally biased. Following are my comments on the topic few days back.

"Death of any innocent is always regrettable but the way Media is portraying it and Youtube videos are labelled is very questionable... Actually events which happened even according to these media reports have so many questions which they are not touching .... Why because they are on agenda of maligning Security personalls... Some question which came to my mind and sequence of events are as following ....

1: According to News reports; they were coming from Afghanishtan and trying to goto Iran .... and at two check points they were gave bribe to police and at third one they have no more money ... so they ran away and Police told this to FC and FC killed them .....

Question1: Were they legally in Pakistan? What a Chehchan innocent family is doing in there ... tourism i think :P?
Question2: Who told reports that at first two checkpoints they Police took bribe from them ... and at third they were left with no Money? I think there Dead Bodies ... as this report was given right after the incident.
Question3: Did anyone know that a day before 90FC people were killed in suicide attack... and when they get a Police call that 5 outsiders are coming toward your checkpost .... what option they have to stop them far away ... and if they don't stop then shoot them. Should FC wait until they blast themself near them to find if they were innocent or not?

Way this media and youtube snippets portray Pakistani security agencies is just based on pack of lies and simple questions are never asked.....

"

I am not in Pakistan right now but I would decline to participate in protest of this death ... Not because I think he was innocent or not ... But the purpose of Protest and department it is against.

Now that the worst has happened...

1. Call for a protest in Lahore in front of the Press Club by Saeeda Diep, 7 PM.
2. I suggest a gradually widening BDS (boycott, divestment & sanctions) campaign against the military's economic empire. Not until we are ready to move out of DHA and Cantt. areas (or else, re-appropriate their ownership and management to municipal authorities), stop using cinemas and restaurants in such localities, divest from Askari Housing Estates, Askari Commercial Bank and Askari Leasing, etc, can we actually hope to send the men in khaki back to the barracks.

Whether the US leaves or stays, whether the Taliban are there or not, we will always have the Army to contend with. Let's focus on the main "enabler" of both reactionary forces we are dealing with: the US and the Taliban. Let's unite to cut them down to size before they pick us off one by one.

Mr. Saleem Shahazad died in his belief that there would be more ready to take up his fight for truth, justice and accountability. Our actions now need to vindicate his belief.

11am May 31st: Have just spoken to Saleem Shehzad's wife. Saleem is still not back. She says his friends said he would return last night but niether has he returned nor does she have any news of him.
His cell phone remains switched off. We are trying to contact civil and military institutions to try and locate Saleem.
His brother in law had filed an application to register an FIR around 2am on May 30th. The police authorities said they would register an FIR after an initial inquiry.

Today the Investigating Officer is to visit his home before filing an FIR.

There has to be an explanation for Saleem Shehzad's dissapearance; and the onus of doing this is on the government. The police has yet to file an FIR.

Under no pretext can such a disappearance be acceptable. In democratic countries where there is rule of law, any inquiry against a citizen suspected of violating any law,has to be lawful and transparent.

This draconian practise of sudden disappearance of journalists has to be contested from all forums.
