Dear all,

All economies have seasonal trends, but for Saudi Arabia these trends are more pronounced than for most other global economies. In the attached report, we examine quarterly earnings for each of the 15 sectors of the market as well as quarterly real GDO growth rate to determine seasonal trends. Within corporate results, the fourth quarter tends to be the weakest as companies choose to clean up their balance sheets in order to start the new year on a sounder footing while the second quarter is generally the peak time for private sector activity owing to a push from companies to conclude deals and projects ahead of the summer slowdown. The report also highlights some puzzling seasonal trends in the recently released quarterly real GDP growth particularly in the oil and manufacturing sectors, though it appears that this early data is subject to further revisions.

Dear Readers,

Please find attached our second issue of the monthly NCB Saudi Economic Review.

Executive Summary

·         The flow of global oil supply and demand data has been relatively positive recently, creating some momentum for demand prospects with Brent approaching USD113 per barrel.

·         The situation still holds much obscurity concerning the fate of the Euro as mixed sentiments arise from weakening Chinese data and the expectation of the Euro bond short-selling ban; such ban should lay a cap on yields at current levels causing a large-scale squeeze in bonds.

·         Extreme drought conditions that have plagued most of the US, affecting both their corn and soybean harvest, as well as speculative trading in anticipation of slashed production forecasts, to be released by the USDA, are applying upward pressure on prices.

·         Despite experiencing suppressed interest rates, the local banking system managed to attract time and saving deposits and increase their share of M3 to 24% following their record low figure of 23% during April.

·         The primary equity market is expected to remain inactive through August, yet there is one announced IPO for September to raise almost SAR100 million for City Cement Company.

·         The share of medium term credit has gained to a record 17.8% as banks have been drawn to finance SMEs on larger scale to diversify their portfolios. As a result of the pickup in lending activity, the L/D ratio has been supported to reach 80.7% for June.

Best regards,

[PF:170136] Is it Really That Hard to keep 6 days of Fasting of Shawaal ?

In the name of Allah, the Most-Merciful, the All-Compassionate

"May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon You"

Praise be to Allaah, we seek His help and His forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of our own souls and from our bad deeds. Whomsoever Allaah guides will never be led astray, and whomsoever Allaah leaves astray, no one can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allaah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

Is it Really That Hard to keep
6 days of Fasting of Shawaal ?
- Adil ibn Manzoor Khan.

During Ramadhan , every year we all keep our fast for full one month.  We stay away from food and water and sometimes we keep our fast even if we did not get up sehar.

Then why is it after Ramadhan , just thinking about having additional 6 days of fasting seems so hard ?

Why is it because we think that we would not be able to do it and we do not even try.
Yes , we all know , not many people keep these fasts , but why do we want to be among counted those people ?

Concept of keeping additonal 6 Days of Fasting

Do you know that Islamic Calendar contains 354/ 355 days ?
Allah swt knows that having fast for 1 day is very tough. So its because of bounty of Allah
swt that He gives reward of 10 days of fasting by just having 1 day of fast.
Subhanallah!

So , 29 or 30 days of Ramadhan  10 days of reward for each day fast = 290 or 300 days of equivalent reward.

That still leaves approx another 60 days to complete 1 year.
So , 60 divided by 10 = 6 days left of fasting.

Just by having additional 6 days of fasting we would get the reward as if we have fasted for 1 FULL YEAR,,,
Subhanallah!.

Hold on,,,,

Thats not all…

Know the bounty of Allah SWT ,
He is Most Merciful , Most Forgiving , Most Kind ,
Much we can Ever Think and Imagine.

Allah swt , just does not gives us the reward for fasting 6 additional days equalivent of 1 year ,
but He multiplies not by 10 or 20 .
But He rewards us for as if we have fasted for Full Lifetime
Subhanallah

"Whoever fasts Ramadaan then follows it  with six days of Shawwaal, it will be as if he fasted for a lifetime"
(Muslim, no. 1984),

What are the virtues of fasting the 6 days of Shawwal ?

Abu Ayub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported Allaahs Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: "He who observed the fast of Ramadan and then followed it with six (fasts) of Shawwal, it would be as if he fasted perpetually."
(perpetually means: lifetime)
(Sahih Muslim, Book 006, Number 2614)

Thawbaan (may Allaah be pleased with him), the freed slave of Allaahs Messenger (peace be upon him), related that the Messenger of Allaah (pbuh) said, "Whoever fasts six days after the Festival of Breaking the Fast completes the reward of a year, for whoever brings a good deed gets [the reward of] ten similar."
Sunan Ibn Maajah, Vol. 3, p. 38, Number 1715;

Tips on how to keep 6 days of Fasting of Shawaal

Shawaal has just started , only a week has gone by.
You still have the time to do it.
Do not leave it for next year for who knows this might have been your last ramadhan.

Do not let shaitaan waswas trouble you for it is the shaitaan does not want you to get the reward of fasting equivalent of lifetime.

1:  Just wake up for sehar tomorrow and keep 1 day of fast.
After completing 1 day of fast, it would seem easy and it is but natural we would automatically be keeping remaining 5 days of fasting.
(Inshallah)

For the Ladies ...

For the Ladies who have missed their fasts due to their monthly period , they have 2 options to do this ...

For example a lady misses 6 days of fasting during the month of Ramadhan

option A : She can 1st start by keeping those missed days of Ramadhan fasts and then continue to keep another 6 days to complete the 1 year formula. But all those fasting has to be done during this month of Shawaal.

option B : She can delay those missed fasts of Ramadhan and start the 6 days of fasting of Shawaal. However she will have to complete those missed days fasts of Ramadhan before the next Ramadhan.

Be Motivation for others.

People normally get encourage to keep nafil fasts only when someone they know are keeping the same , otherwise keeping it alone is like carry a big mountain on their shoulder.

Do not just forward this email to others but tell your friends/family that you would be keeping these 6 days of fasting and motivate others to keep the same.

Like I am calling each one of you to keep these 6 days of fasting as I have already started doing the same.

This way you will also get reward from Allah swt for making people do the good thing.

Take poll and encourage others....
Will You Be Fasting 6 Days of Shawaal ?

[karachi-Friends] Fwd: Self-Sacrifice

---------- Forwarded message ----------
From: Dawood <dawood.saudi@gmail.com>
Date: 24 August 2012 20:02
Subject: Fwd: Self-Sacrifice
To:

In the Qur'an Allah reveals a very important truth:

"You will not attain true goodness until you give of what you love." (Surah Al 'Imran, 92)

Self-sacrifice, one of the basic moral qualities that allows people to attain real goodness, can enable individuals to give up, happily and without a second thought, all that they own, love, and value. When necessary, they will endure every difficulty and exert all of their energy for the sake of their values and loved ones. When faced with choosing between their own advantage and that of their loved ones, they will forego their own benefit and make the greatest physical and emotional sacrifice that they can for their loved ones.

All people are created with negative moral tendencies that direct them toward selfishness and egotism. If one's lower self is not trained, this selfishness will take control of one's moral character. Generally, such people think first - or even exclusively - about themselves. They always want the best of everything and expect to be treated with understanding and kindness. When difficulties arise, they expect others to take risks for them and support them at the cost of their own advantage. They always want to protect their own interests and comfort. When faced with adversity, they renounce whatever they value for the sake of protecting their interests and avoiding any harm to themselves. Allah describes the extent of this selfish passion:

Truly humanity was created headstrong – desperate when bad things happen, begrudging when good things come. (Surat al-Ma'arij, 19-21)

People can overcome their lower self by understanding belief in Allah and practicing the Qur'an's moral teachings. Those who grasp the truths revealed in the Qur'an and understand the morality that Allah has laid down for humanity are always able to sacrifice for others. Allah says that those who master their lower self will attain salvation in this world and the Hereafter:

"The people who are protected from the avarice of their own selves are successful." (Surat at-Taghabun, 16)

Allah created the human conscience to help people avoid evil and practice the morality that pleases Him. The conscience always warns against evil and shows the way to goodness. The deep love for Allah and strong fear and respect for Him that reside in the believers' heart prevent them from being overcome by their lower self. They know that the main reasons for their existence are to win Allah's favor and to conduct themselves in ways that earn His good pleasure. They know that this earthly life is very short and that they have to work to attain success in the Hereafter. They do not forget that all of this world's benefits are transitory and that one day they will stand in Allah's Presence and account for their life. They are aware that those who pursue their own interests here, instead of trying to attain Allah's favor, mercy, and Paradise, will suffer eternal agony. In addition, they know that Allah will reward their self-sacrificial moral character with good things in this world and incomparable eternal blessings in the Hereafter:

"Those who do good will have the best, and more. Neither dust nor debasement will darken their faces. They are the Companions of the Garden, remaining in it timelessly, forever." (Surah Yunus, 26)

"So Allah gave them the reward of this world and the best reward of the Hereafter. Allah loves good-doers." (Surah Al 'Imran, 148)

"If anyone desires the reward of this world, We will give him some of it. If anyone desires the reward of the Hereafter, We will give him some of it. We will recompense the thankful." (Surah Al 'Imran, 145)

However, self-sacrifice is far more than just giving part of one's possessions to someone in need. For believers, it is a way of life that comes from the strength of their belief, pervades their whole life, and requires that they sensitize themselves to their surroundings. This involves feeling a sense of personal responsibility for social problems and trying to solve the problems of oppressed and needy people. Rather than thinking that the rich and powerful will take care of these problems, they consider it a moral imperative and a demand of their conscience to get involved, for being a virtuous person means to act in the knowledge that every believer who listens to his/her conscience and fears and respects Allah has a responsibility:

"Would that there had been more people with a vestige of good among the generations of those who came before you, who forbade corruption in the land, other than the few among them whom We saved. Those who did wrong gladly pursued the life of luxury that they were given and were evildoers. " (Surah Hud, 116)

Self-sacrifice is a moral virtue that must dominate a believer's life and that it must be lived in its totality to win Allah's favor. Basing their life on this strong understanding, believers strive toward what is good and thus serve as examples of this goodness both in this life and the Hereafter.

Some people avoid self-sacrifice, preferring this world's transient benefits to winning Allah's favor. But sooner or later, they will suffer great loss in both worlds.

"Say: 'My prayer and my rites, my living and my dying, are for Allah alone, the Lord of all the worlds.' " (Surat al-An'am, 162)
