download the driver for XP, extract files,
go to control panel, add hardware, select your scanner device, install manually the driver files you have extracted.
method 2
right click on driver's exeutable and select properties.
choose compatibility, and select "windows xp sp2" from list.
click ok to close the dialogues,
now try to install driver by double clicking the same file.
if it doesn't work, then it's very hard to configure
