Made the rings and much of the decorations themselves
Asked friends and family to bring food and contribute talents
Average UK wedding now costs £20,000

A pair of newlyweds say they have proved how easy it is to get married on a budget – by celebrating their nuptials for £1.
Georgina Porteous and Sid Innes organised their perfect day for family and friends, complete with rings, flowers, a cake and even a photographer to capture the occasion.
They also hosted a reception with a picnic, drinks, jazz music and dancing at a romantic setting in the Scottish Highlands, all on their unbelievably low budget.

Georgina and Sid Innes at their Inverness-shire home where they were married, wearing the clothes that they wore on their wedding day But incredibly, apart from the £70 they had to pay by law for their marriage fees, their only expenditure was a pound on Georgina's vintage wedding gown.
The newlyweds were toasting their good fortune today after spending only a tiny fraction of the average £20,000 cost of a wedding in the UK.
Georgina, 36, said: 'I don't see the point in these massive weddings. It takes away from what marriage is truly about.

The only expense the couple could not avoid was the statutory £70 for the fees required to marry, but everything else was donated or sourced for free

The couple exchanged wedding rings hand-crafted by Georgina using antlers she found in their garden 'There is nothing to gain from spending a huge amount of money. The day is supposed to be about marrying the person you love and for us all that mattered was that we were becoming husband and wife. We didn't want or need a big, fancy affair.'

Georgina, an artist, met singer-songwriter Sid, 39, at an art fair in Glasgow in 2009 and immediately said 'yes' when he proposed in Berlin last year.

The couple, who live near Inverness, started planning their big day but as they are both dedicated to recycling and self-sufficiency, they vowed to keep their nuptials as simple as possible.

The only expense they could not avoid was the statutory £70 for the fees required to marry, but everything else was donated or sourced for free.

Georgina said: 'From day one of the engagement we knew we wanted a small and cheap wedding, it was a natural thing for us because we are so invested in recycling and self-sustainability. We were really excited to plan it all.

Georgina's mother Susanne, a church reader, conducted the ceremony in front of 70 guests in a run-down barn at their home

The £1 was spent on the wedding dress, a 1960s hand-made floor-length ivory wedding gown with embroidered sleeves, which Georgina purchased on the website freecycle
'We have always been a bit alternative and arty so I enjoyed doing something a little different from everyone else's weddings.'

[PF:172553] Pathan The Hat Seller

A Pathan hat-seller who was passing by a forest decided to take a nap under one of the trees, so he left his whole basket of hats by the side.

A few hours later, he woke up and realized that all his hats were one. He looked up and to his surprise, the tree was full of monkeys and they had taken all his hats.

Pathan sits down and thinks of how he can get the hats down. While thinking he started to scratch his head. The next moment, the monkeys were doing the same. Next, he took down his own hat, the monkeys did exactly the same.

An idea came to him, he took his hat and threw it on the floor and the monkeys did that too. So he finally managed to get all his hats back.

Fifty years later, his grandson, also became a hat-seller and had heard this monkey story from his grandfather father. One day, just like his father, he passed by the same forest. It was very hot, and he took a nap under the same tree and left the hats on the floor.

He woke up and realized that all his hats were taken by the monkeys on the tree. He remembered his grandfather's words, he started scratching his head and the monkeys followed.

He took down his hat and fanned himself and again the monkeys followed.Now, very convinced of his grandfather's idea, he threw his hat on the floor but to his surprise, the monkeys still held on to all the hats.

Then one monkey climbed down the tree, grabbed the hat on the floor, gave him a slap and said, "You think only you have a grandfather?"

ایک گرلز کالج میں سرکاری تفتیشی ٹیم آئی اور کالج کے سارے کلاس میں گھوم گھوم کر لڑکیوں کے بیگ کی تلاشی کرنے لگی ایک ایک لڑکی کے بیگ کی تفتیش کی گئی ، کسی بھی پرس میں کتابیں،کاپیاں اور لازمی اوراق کے علاوہ کوئی ممنوع شیئ پائی نہیں گئی ،البتہ ایک آخری کلاس باقی رہ گئی تھی اور یہی جائے حادثہ تھا ۔۔۔۔۔۔ حادثہ کیا تھا ؟ اور کیا پیش آیا ؟

تفتیشی کمیٹی ہال میں داخل ہوئی اورساری لڑکیوں سے گذارش کی کہ تفتیش کے لئے اپنا اپنا پرس کھول کر سامنے رکھیں ،

ہال کے ایک کنارے ایک طالبہ بیٹھی تھی اس کی پریشانی بڑھ گئی تھی وہ تفتیشی کمیٹی پر دزدیدہ نگاہ ڈال رہی تھی ،اور شرم سے پانی پانی ہو رہی تھی ،اس نے اپنے پرس پر ہاتھ رکھا ہوا تھا تفتیش شروع ہو چکی ہے اس کی باری آنے ہی والی ہے ،لڑکی کی پریشانی بڑھتی ہی جا رہی ہے ،چند منٹوں کے میں لڑکی کے پرس کے پاس تفتیشی کمیٹی پہونچ چکی ہے ،لڑکی نے پرس کو زور سے پکڑ لیا گویا وہ زبان حال سے کہنا چاہتی ہو کہ آپ لوگ اس پرس کو ہرگز کھول نہیں سکتے ،اس سے کہا جا رہا ہے پرس کھولو ! اس نے پرس کو سینے سے چمٹا لیا ،تفتیشی افسر نے کہا پرس ہمارے حوالے کرو ۔لڑکی زور سے چلا کر بولتی ہے نہیں میں نہیں دے سکتی ،پوری تفتیشی کمیٹی اس لڑکی کے پاس جمع ہو گئی ،سخت بحث و مباحثہ شروع ہو گیا ہال کی ساری طالبات پریشان ہیں کہ آخر راز کیا ہے ؟ حقیقت کیا ہے ؟

بالآخر لڑکی سے اس کا پرس چھین لیا گیا ،ساری لڑکیاں خاموش ۔۔۔۔۔۔لکچر بند۔۔۔۔۔۔ ہر طرف سناٹا چھا چکا ہے ،پتہ نہیں کیا ہو گا ۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔ پرس میں کیا چیز ہے ؟ تفتیشی کمیٹی طالبہ کا پرس لئے کالج کے آفس میں گئی ، طالبہ آفس میں آئی اس کی آنکھوں سے آنسوؤں کی بارش ہو رہی تھی سب کی طرف غصے سے دیکھ رہی تھی کہ بھرے مجمع کے سامنے اسے رسوا کیا گیا تھا ، اسے بٹھایا گیا ، کالج کی ڈائریکٹر نے اپنے سامنے پرس کھلوایا ، طالبہ نے پرس کھولا ، یا اللہ ! کیا تھا پرس میں ۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔؟

آپ کیا گمان کر سکتے ہیں ۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔؟ پرس میں کوئی ممنوع شئے نہ تھی ، نہ ہی فحش تصویریں تھی ،واللہ ویسی کوئی چیز نہ تھی ۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔ اس میں روٹی کے چند ٹکڑے تھے ،اور استعمال شدہ سینڈوچ کے باقی حصے تھے ، بس یہی تھے اور کچھ نہیں ۔ جب اس سلسلے میں اس سے بات کی گئی تو اس نے کہا : ساری طالبات جب ناشتہ کر لیتی ہیں تو ٹوٹے پھوٹے روٹی کے ٹکڑے جمع کر لیتی ہوں جس میں سے کچھ کھاتی ہوں اور کچھ اپنے اہل خانہ کے لئے لے کر جاتی ہوں جی ہاں ! اپنی ماں اور بہنوں کے لئے ۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔ تاکہ انہیں دوپہر اور رات کا کھانہ میسر ہو سکے ۔۔۔ ہم تنگ دست ہیں ہماری کوئی کفالت کرنے والا نہیں ، ہماری کوئی خبر بھی نہیں لیتا ۔ اور پرس کھولنے سے انکار کرنے کی وجہ صرف یہی تھی کہ مبادا میری کلاس کی سہیلیاں میری حالت کو جان جائیں اور مجھے شرمندگی اٹھانی پڑے ۔ میری طرف سے بے ادبی ہوئی ہو تو میں آپ سب سے معافی کی خواستگار ہوں ۔ یہ دلدوز منظر کیا تھا کہ سب کی آنکھیں ڈبڈبا گئیں ۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔

بھائیو اور بہنو! یہ منظر ان مختلف المناک مناظر میں سے ایک ہے ، جو ممکن ہے ہمارے پڑوس میں ہو اور ہم اسے نہ جانتے ہوں ، یا بسا اوقات ایسے لوگوں سے نظریں اوجھل کئے ہوئے ہوں ۔

Hadith: Abu Hurayrah (ra) reported that Allah's Messenger (صل الله عليه و سلم) said: "A Muslim has five rights upon other Muslims: Responding to his Salam, Answering his invitation (to food), Making Tashmeet when he sneezes, Visiting him when he is sick, and Following his Janazah when he dies." (Bukhari and Muslim).

Hadith: Allah's Messenger (صل الله عليه و سلم) said: "Whoever attends the Janazah until it is finished, will earn one Qirat, and who ever stays until the burial, will earn two Qirats. Someone asked: What a Qirat means? The Prophet (صل الله عليه و سلم) answered:' It means rewards as big as a great mountain" (Bukhari & Muslim).

Hadith: On the authority of Suhaib, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is reported as having said: "How wonderful is the affair of the believer, for his affair is all good, and this applies to no one except the believer. If something good happens to him, he gives thanks and that is good for him, and if something bad happens to him, he bears it with patience, and he will be rewarded for that, so everything that Allah has decreed for the Muslim is good" (Muslim).

Hadith: According to an authentic hadith: "The greatest reward comes with the greatest trial. When Allah loves a people He tests them. Whoever accepts that wins His pleasure but whoever is discontent with that earns His wrath" (At-Tirmidhi).

Al-Hasan Al-Basri (may Allah bless his soul) said, "Do not hate the trials that befall you or the calamities that happen to you, for they may be something that you hate but it leads you to salvation, and there may be something that you love, but it brings to you your doom."
