Pictorial: Olympic 2012 - The fun and Games begin

The fun and Games begin... but Olympians struggle to hide their bemusement as jesters welcome Team GB to athletes village

Britain's Olympians struggled to hide their bemusement yesterday when they were welcomed to the Athletes' Village by a troupe of jesters.Team GB found themselves surrounded by dozens of dancers speaking in tongue and hooting while ringing bicycle bells and blowing whistles. Poems were read in French and performers wearing pom-poms on their heads jumped around and span in circles to the tune of 'I want to ride my bicycle'.

Some of the athletes looked uncomfortable and laughed nervously, while others got into the spirit of it and took photographs of the National Youth Theatre performance on their phones. At the end of the half-an-hour ceremony, an enormous wire mesh 'Queen' appeared and a woman in red face-paint announced: 'Follow your queen and follow your dreams.
'We come to the close of our ceremony, but the beginning of our friendship.'

Deputy prime minister Nick Clegg and Princess Anne, president of the British Olympic Association, were among those who attended the ceremony.
Mr Clegg told the Mail afterwards: 'It was absolutely fantastic. In fact, those of us in the VIP area wanted to jump down off the steps and join in with the dancing.'

Former Olympians Tessa Sanderson and Kelly Holmes were also there. Miss Holmes revealed that they both have a mystery part in the opening ceremony, saying: 'We don't know what we are going to be doing.'
Miss Holmes refused to comment on speculation she may have been chosen to light the cauldron at Friday's opening ceremony, but believes today's show was a promising sign of things to come.
'This is a really nice moment for the athletes,' she said. 'The village can be a bit of a bubble and this is the release from all that focus. It is amazing.
'Let's face it, we are passionate about sport and what we do brilliantly is pomp and ceremony. You'd have to expect we're going to blow them away with the opening and closing ceremony. Everyone is going to be blown away by the details.'

Boxer Anthony Ogogo was among the athletes to take in the ceremony and was suitably impressed. 'It was amazing,' he said. 'It's hard to explain quite what this feels like, but it's exactly as I expected it would be as a kid.
'It's weird walking around here with so many strangers seeing you in the tracksuit and just saying "well done". I can't wait until my first fight on Saturday to do my thing.'
Mr Clegg, meanwhile, left today's show convinced that the problems which have emerged in recent days over transport, security and border control would soon fade into the background of a successful Games.
'This Olympic Village is a triumph and I've already spoken to some of the athletes, who've said the facilities are the best they've ever seen,' he told BBC News. 'No doubt there will be a few ups and downs along the way but I think people are going to be so proud that Britain has been able to put on such a successful Olympics.
'This isn't just about the athletes, it's about the nation really coming together to support Team GB. This is the greatest show on the planet and I'm clear that the nation is going to love every minute.'

[PF:169906] Chief of the Ladies of Paradise Sayyidah Fatimah az-Zahra Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha

Sayyida Zaahira Tayyiba Taahira
Fatimah az-Zahra Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/184103_10150252240560334_672380333_8125933_8058127_n.jpg

Blessed be that symbol of honor; Pious Batool, our Prophet's daughter
Blessed be the veils of graces; Which from sun and moon hid their faces
Blessed be our Prophet's beloved daughter; Pious, pure and women's leader

Sayyidah Fatimah az-Zahra Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha was the fourth daughter of the Holy Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam and Sayyidah Khadija Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha. "Zahra" (having gleaming and luminous face), "Batool" (aloof from the worldly pleasures) and "Tahira" (chaste and modest) are among her exalted titles.

She was an unusually sensitive child of her age.
When she was five, she heard that her father had announced his Prophethood. Her mother Sayyidah Khadija Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha explained to her what the responsibilities of a Prophet are. Sayyidah Fatimah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha became more closely attached to her father and felt a deep and abiding love for him. She used to accompany him through the narrow streets of Makkatul Mukarrama, visiting the Ka'bah or attending the secret meetings of the early Muslims who had embraced Islam and pledged allegiance to her father.

Once, she accompanied her father to the Masjid al-Haraam. Sayyiduna Rasoolullah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam began to pray in front of the Ka'bah. A group of Quraysh chiefs gathered around the Holy Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam. Uqbah bin Abi Mu'ayt brought the entrails of a slaughtered animal and threw it on the shoulders of the Beloved Habeeb SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam. Sayyidah Fatimah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha, a ten year old girl, went up to her father and removed the filth. Then, in a firm and angry voice she lashed out against Abu Jahl and his colleagues. They could not utter a single word.

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/285040_10150252241685334_672380333_8125940_6122415_n.jpg

After the demise of her mother, Sayyidah Khadija Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha, she felt that she had to give even greater support to her father. She devoted herself to looking after his needs. She was so engrossed in her father's service that people started calling her "Umm Abiha", the mother of her father. The Holy Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam had a special love for Sayyidah Fatimah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha.

Sayyiduna Miswar bin Makhramah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha reported that the Holy Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam said:

فاطمة بضعة منى ، فمن أغضبها أغضبنى
"My daughter is part of me. He who disturbs her in fact disturbs me and he who offends her offends me." [Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 3767]

The Holy Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam also said:

حسبك من نساء العالمين أربع مريم بنت عمران و آسية امرأة فرعون و خديجة بنت خويلد و فاطمة بنت محمد
"The best women in the entire world are four: The Virgin Mariyam Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha daughter of Imran and Aasiya Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha the wife of Pharaoh and Khadija Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha Mother of the Believers and Fatimah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha, daughter of Muhammad SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam."
[Mustadrak al-Hakim, Vol. 4, Page 262, Hadith 4745]

Sayyidah Fatimah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha thus acquired a place of love and esteem in the Beloved Nabi's SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam heart that was only occupied by his wife Sayyidah Khadija Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha.  She was given the title of "Zahra" which means "The Resplendent One". That was because of her beaming face, which seemed to radiate light.  She was also called "Batool" because of her purity and asceticism. She spent most of her time in the recitation of the Holy Quraan, performing Salaah and doing other acts of Ibadah.

Sayyidah Ayesha Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha said:

أقبلت فاطمة تمشي كأن مشيتها مشي النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال: "مرحباً بابنتي". ثم أجلسها عن يمينه، أو عن شماله
"I have not seen any one of Allah's SubHanuhu wa Ta'ala creation resemble the Messenger of Allah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam more in speech, conversation and manner of sitting than Fatimah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha. When the Holy Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam saw her approaching, he would welcome her, stand up and kiss her, take her by the hand and sit her down in the place where he was sitting." [al-Adab al-Mufrad, Page 406, Hadith 421]

Sayyidah Fatimah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha learnt from her father the manners and gentle speech. She was kind to the poor. She often gave her food to the needy preferring herself to remain hungry. She had no inclination towards the materialistic world. She had no craving for the ornaments of this world or the luxuries and comforts of life.

Sayyidah Fatimah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha was married to Sayyiduna Ali Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha at the beginning of the second year after the Hijra. She was nineteen-year-old and Sayyiduna Ali Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha was about twenty-one. The Holy Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam himself performed the Nikah. On her marriage, Sayyiduna Rasoolullah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam is said to have presented Sayyidah Fatimah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha and Sayyiduna Ali Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha with a wooden bed intertwined with palm leaves, a velvet coverlet, a leather cushion filled with the leaves of a plant, a sheepskin, a pot, a water-skin and a quern (A primitive hand-operated mill for grinding grain) for grinding grain.

One day Sayyiduna Ali Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha asked her to go to her father and ask for a servant. Sayyidah Fatimah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha came to the Holy Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam. The Holy Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam said:

ألا أخبرك ما هو خير لك منه ، تسبحين الله عند منامك ثلاثا وثلاثين ، وتحمدين الله ثلاثا وثلاثين ، وتكبرين الله أربعا وثلاثين
"Shall I not tell you of something better than that which you asked of me? I am telling you the words, which Jibra'eel Alaihis Salam has told me. You should say Subhan-Allah (Glory be to Allah SubHanuhu wa Ta'ala) 33 times, Al-HamduLillah (Praise be to Allah SubHanuhu wa Ta'ala) 33 times and Allahu Akbar (Allah SubHanuhu wa Ta'ala is Great) 34 times."
[Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 5362]

This is called "Tasbeeh-e-Fatimah" and brings blessings upon the person who regularly recites it.

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/262595_10150252241035334_672380333_8125938_7422339_n.jpg

Before proceeding on to his Farewell Pilgrimage in Ramadaan, 10 A.H., the Holy Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam said to Sayyidah Fatimah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha:

إن جبريل كان يعارضني القرآن كل سنة مرة وإنه عارضني العام مرتين ولا أراه إلا حضر أجلي
"The Archangel Jibra'eel Alaihis Salam recited the Qur'an to me and I to him once every year, but this year he has recited it with me twice. I cannot but think that my time has come".
[Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 3426]

On his return from the Farewell Pilgrimage, the Holy Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam became seriously ill.  He was confined to the apartment of his beloved wife Sayyidah Ayesha Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha. When Sayyidah Fatimah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha visited her ailing father, Sayyidah Ayesha Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha would leave father and the daughter together.

Sayyidah Ayesha Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha reported:

"We, the wives of Allah's Apostle were with him (during his last illness) and none was absent therefrom that Fatimah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha, who walked after the style of Allah's Messenger SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam, came there, and when he saw her he welcomed her saying: 'You are welcome, my daughter'. He then made her sit on his right side or on his left side. Then he said something secretly to her and she swept bitterly and when he found her (plunged) in grief, he said to her something secretly for the second time and she laughed. I (Ayesha Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha) said to her: 'Allah's Messenger SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam has singled you amongst the women of the family for talking to you something secretly and you wept'. When Allah's Messenger SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam recovered from illness, I said to her: 'What did he say to you?' Thereupon, she said: 'I am not going to disclose the secret of Allah's Messenger SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam. When the Holy Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam passed away, I said to her: 'I adjure you by the right that I have upon you that you should narrate to me what Allah's Messenger SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam said to you.' She said: 'Yes, now I can do that. When he (Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam) talked to me secretly for the first time he informed me that Jibra'il Alaihis Salam was in the habit of reciting the Qur'an along with him once every year, but this year it had been twice and so he perceived his death quite near, so fear Allah SubHanuhu wa Ta'ala and be patient (and he told me) that he would be a befitting forerunner for me and so I wept as you saw me. And when he saw me in grief he talked to me secretly for the second time and said: 'Fatimah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha, are you not pleased that you should be at the head of the believing women or the head of this Ummah?'  I laughed and it was that laughter which you saw."
[Sahih Muslim, Hadith 6467]

In another narration, Sayyidah Ayesha Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha reported that when she asked Sayyidah Fatimah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha the reasons of her crying and laughing when her father talked to her secretly, she said:

سارني النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم فأخبرني أنه يقبض في وجعه التي توفي فيه فبكيت ثم سارني فأخبرني أني أول أهل بيته أتبعه فضحكت
"He informed me secretly of his death and so I cried. He then informed me secretly that I would be the first amongst the members of his family to follow him, so I laughed."
[Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 3427 ; Sahih Muslim, Hadith 2450]

This Hadith shows the implicit faith that Sayyidah Fatimah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha had in the words of her father. She believed that her father was given the Knowledge of Unseen. She was quite sure that the events would take the same turn as her father had informed her. This Hadith also shows that Sayyidah Fatimah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha loved her father more dearly than her husband and children, and her meeting with him in the Hereafter was a source of great comfort and consolation for her.

[PF:169905] Life of Prophet : The Troubles Begin (part 11)

In the name of Allah, the Most-Merciful, the All-Compassionate

"May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon You"

Praise be to Allaah, we seek His help and His forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of our own souls and from our bad deeds. Whomsoever Allaah guides will never be led astray, and whomsoever Allaah leaves astray, no one can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allaah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

(part 11)

The Troubles Begin

Three years passed and one day the Archangel Gabriel came to the Prophet (pbuh) and ordered him to start preaching openly to everyone. So the Prophet (pbuh) told the people of Mecca that he had something very important to tell them. He stood on a hillside in Mecca, called Safa, and they gathered around to hear what he had to say. He started by asking them if they would believe him were he to say that an army was about to attack them. They answered that indeed they would, because he never lied. He then told them that he was the Messenger of Allah, sent to show them the right way, and to warn them of terrible punishments if they did not follow him in worshipping only Allah and none other.

Abu Lahab, one of the Prophet's uncles who was among the listeners, suddenly stood up and said, 'May you perish! Did you call us here just to tell us this ?'

At this, Allah sent to the Prophet (pbuh) the following Surah:
In the Name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful

"The Power of Abu Lahab will perish, and he will perish. His wealth and gains will not save him. He shall roast at a flaming fire, And his wife, the carrier of firewood Will have upon her neck a rope of palm-fibre".
 (Quaran cxi.1-5)

Palm Fibre, The Flame
(also know as 'Abu Lahab' Surah)

Then the crowd dispersed and the Prophet (pbuh) was left alone. A few days later the Prophet (pbuh) tried again. A feast was prepared in his house for all of his uncles. After the meal he spoke to them and said, 'O sons of Abd al-Muttalib! I know of no Arab who has come to his people with a better message than mine. I have brought you the best news for this life and the next. Allah has ordered me to call you to Him. So which of you will help me ?'
All the men kept silent. Then Ali, his cousin, jumped up and said: 'O Prophet of Allah! I will help you.'
Then the men all got up and left, laughing as they went because only one young boy had agreed to help the Prophet (pbuh).

His message ignored by most of the people and his uncles, the Prophet (pbuh) continued to meet his friends secretly in a house near the hill of Safa. There they prayed together and he taught them about the religion of Islam. But even though they kept to themselves, they were sometimes abused by those who would not believe. From one such incident, however, an unexpected reversion to Islam took place. One day, when the Prophet (pbuh) was returning home, speaking with his followers, he met Abu Jahl, a leader of Quraysh, who hated the Prophet (pbuh) and his teachings. Abu Jahl started to insult him and to speak spitefully of Islam, but the Prophet (pbuh) made no reply and went on his way.

Later, Hamzah, one of the Prophet's uncles, who was a strong and brave warrior of whom people were quite afraid, heard how his nephew had been insulted. Filled with rage, he ran straight to the Kaabah where Abu Jahl was sitting among the people and struck him a violent blow in the face with his bow.
Hamzah then shouted, 'Will you insult him when I follow his religion, and I say what he says ? Hit me back if you can!'
Some people got up to help Abu Jahl but he stopped them saying, 'Leave Hamzah alone, for by Allah, I have insulted his nephew badly'.
From that moment on Hamzah followed the teachings of the Prophet (pbuh) and with his reversion to Islam .

Quraysh realized that the Prophet (pbuh) had a strong supporter and so for a while they stopped persecuting him. Soon, however, the leaders of Quraysh became angry again, when they saw that the Prophet (pbuh) was going ahead with his teaching. A group of them went to his uncle, Abu Talib, who had promised to protect him. They told him to ask the Prophet (pbuh) to stop attacking their gods and their way of life, and in return they would let him do as he wished with his religion.

After a time they saw that there was no change, so they went back to Abu Talib and this time they told him that if he did not stop his nephew, they would fight them both. Abu Talib was very upset by this quarrel among his people, but he could not break his word to his nephew. He sent for the Prophet (pbuh) and told him what had happened, saying, 'Spare me and spare yourself; do not put a greater burden on me than I can bear.' The Prophet (pbuh) thought that his uncle might abandon him and that he would no longer have his support, but nevertheless he answered, '0 my uncle, by Allah, if they put the sun in my right hand and the moon in my left in return for my giving up this cause, I would not give it up until Allah makes Truth victorious, or I die in His service'.

Abu Talib was deeply moved by this answer. He told the Prophet (pbuh) that he would support him for as long as he lived and encouraged him to go on spreading Allah's message. From that time on, however hard the leaders of Quraysh tried to convince Abu Talib to stop protecting his nephew, he always refused to listen to them. In order to get rid of the Prophet (pbuh) and his followers, his enemies started persecuting those Muslims who were poor or weak, or had no powerful friends.

One such person was Bilal, the slave of Umayyah ibn Khalaf. His master would take him out into the desert, tie him up, and leave him in the sun with a large stone on his chest. Fortunately Abu Bakr was passing by one day and saw Umayyah torturing Bilal, so he bought him from his master for a large sum of money and then set him free. But not all persecuted Muslims were as fortunate as Bilal. Many suffered, but all of them endured it patiently, knowing that they were doing the right thing and that their reward in the life to come would be greater' than any happiness they could find on earth.

[PF:169903] Nisab of Sadqa-Fitre (types of payments)

Every Muslim is required to pay Zakat al Fitr at the conclusion of the month of Ramadan as a token of thankfulness to Allah for having enabled him or her to observe the obligator fast.

Charity of the month in Islam: Sadaqat-ul-fitr (Fitra):

The word combinations "Zakat al Fitr" and "Sadaqatul Fitr" are different names of an obligatory kind of Zakah that is paid in the month of Ramadan immediately after its end.

Zakat al Fitr

Sadaqatul Fitr is the tax of fast-breaking which is paid by every member of the family before the beginning of the Eid prayer. . It is obligatory both for adults and children. The payment of this tax is the final condition so that God the Most High accepts the fast of a fasting person. This payment is made first of all to the needy and poor Muslims who are eligible for this tax and this payment is also used for other charity purposes.

Significance and Amount of Zakat Fitr (Fitra/ fitrana):

The main purpose of Zakat el fitre (Sadaqat-ul-fitr) is to provide those who fasted with the means of making up for their errors during the month of fasting. Zakat ul Fitr also provides the poor with a means with which they can celebrate the festival of breaking the fast (Eid ul Fitr) along with the rest of the Muslims.  This kind of Zakah became obligatory in the second year of Hijrah.

Zakat ul Fitr 2011 Sadaqat ul fitr Zakat two handfuls Pay Zakat with grains

It is a Sunnah that the Sadaqat-ul-fitr (Zakat al Fitr) is paid before performing the 'Eid prayer. It can also be paid before the 'Eid day, but it is not advisable to delay it up to the performance of Eid prayer. However, if a person has failed to pay on its proper time, he should pay it as soon as possible, whereby the obligation will stand discharged.

Zakat Fitr, an obligation for every Muslim, who possess the Nisab (a minimum amount of wealth: 613.35 grams of silver or its equivalent, either in the form of money, ornaments, stock-in-trade, or in the form of some goods or commodities beyond one's normal needs). It must be paid before Eid-ul-Fitr i.e. before the end of Ramadan.

Zakaat ul Fitr

Every person who owns such an amount has to pay Sadaqat-ul-fitr, not only on behalf of himself but also on behalf of his minor children. The prescribed amount of Sadaqat-ul-fitr is 1.75 Kilograms of wheat or its value in money.

Importance of Zakat ul fitr and Fitra Payment in Islam:

The importance of Zakat Fitr are expressed in the following hadith transmitted by Ibn 'Abbas: "Prophet Muhammad (may Allah greet and bless him) made obligatory the payment of Zakat al Fitr for the sake of the purification of a fasting person from empty or blunt words which he said to somebody, and as a source of nutrition for the needy [as a kind of support, help to them]. If a man carries out this duty [transmits or pays this alms in time] before the festive prayer, his action will be accepted as a Zakah [one of the kinds of the obligatory alms which, with God's mercy, will be accepted by Him], whereas if he performs this duty after the Prayer, it will be equal to alms which man regularly gives".

Sadaqat ul fitr 2011

Hadrat Ibn Umar (Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu) narrates : The Most Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa aalihi wa Sallam) stated Sadaqat al-Fitr to be Waajib (compulsory). He (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa aalihi wa Sallam) said, " The Fast of Ramadan remains suspended between the earth and the sky and it is only Sadaqat al-Fitr that takes it up.
