[karachi-Friends] All Pakistanis are not Beghairat (Shameless)

Here is a true and tragic story of a Pakistani girl sadia shaikh who chose to live with a  Belgian boy firend. Her parents and siblings decided it was too much and managed to kill her. They have proved that unlike Pakistani rulers and army, all Pakistanis are
not Beghairat:

FAMILY GUILTY OF BELGIAN HONOUR KILLING

A Belgian court has sentenced four members of a Pakistani family to prison for the "honour killing" of their law student daughter and sister.
After pronouncing the family members guilty for the shooting death of Sadia Sheikh in October 2007, the jury sentenced father Tarik Mahmood Sheikh to 25 years behind bars, mother Zahida Parveen Sariya to 20 years, brother Mudusar to 15 and sister Sariya to five years.
Lawyers for the family said on Monday brother Mudusar, who confessed to pulling the trigger on the three bullets that killed his sister, was handed a lesser jail term than his parents as they were considered to have ordered the girl's death.
Prosecutors had asked for a life sentence for all three, and between 20 and 30 years behind bars for Sariya.
Sadia Sheikh, who defied the family by living with a Belgian and refusing an arranged marriage, was shot dead when aged 20 on October 22, 2007.
Mudusar admitted before the jury of five women and seven men to killing his sister while saying the rest of the family were not to blame.
Her parents and sister stood accused of aiding and abetting the killing which took place when the student visited her family in the hopes of patching up their quarrel.
Questioned during Belgium's first "honour killing" trial in southwestern Mons, Mudusar said the killing was premeditated "for a long time".
The trial also involved rights groups pleading for gender equality as part of a civil suit at the hearings.
Sadia Sheikh left the family home to study after her shopkeeper parents tried to arrange a marriage with a cousin living in Pakistan she had never met.
Before moving in with a Belgian man her age named Jean, she was helped by fellow students and teachers and also spent some time in a centre for victims of domestic violence, where she drew up a will as she felt threatened.
She had nonetheless agreed to visit the family in hopes of making peace the day she was shot.
The father, mother and sister, also facing charges of "attempting to arrange a marriage", denied involvement in the murder, saying Mudusar killed his sister in a fit of rage.

[karachi-Friends] The Basics of Belief in al-Walaa wal-Baraa (Chapter Aale-Imran)

Posted by: "Zakira Hibatullah" zakirahibatullah@gmail.com

Sun Dec 11, 2011 6:36 pm (PST)

al-Walaa` wal-Baraa` as Revealed in Surat aal-'Imraan (1/2)

*In the Name of AllАажтh, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful *

*by Khaalid al-Ghareeb *

**
The legal meaning of Al-Wala' (love, support, help, follow, etc.) is to
totally agree with the sayings, deeds and beliefs which please Allah and
the persons whom He likes.
In an age where truth is presented as falsehood, righteousness is
translated to rebelliance and the preserving of ones land and dignity is
called terrorism, there will naturally arise many confusions about the
pillars of Iman and the facts of Islam. Those in whose hearts there is a
deviation find it expedient to twist the meaning of many sacred texts
because it does not conform with their desires and motives. Not even the
principles of Al-Aqeedah can escape their ploys. Al-Wala'u wa Al-Bara' is
the creed that guides all the actions and sayings of a Muslim and it is by
its practice and application that the ranks of the believers vary. It is
imperative that this creed be unambiguous to the Muslim's mentality in
order that it manifests and materialises correctly in his actions.

*28. Let not the believers take the disbelievers as Awliya' (supporters,
helpers, etc.) instead of the believers, and whoever does that will never
be helped by Allah in any way, except if you indeed fear a danger from
them. And Allah warns you against Himself (ie. His Punishment), and to
Allah is the final return.
29. Say [O Muhammad (s.a.w.)]: "Whether you hide what is in your breasts or
reveal it, Allah knows it, and He knows what is in the heavens and what is
in the earth. And Allah is Able to do all things".*

*The Occasion of Revelation*

The *Ayah *(verse)* *was revealed concerning a group of believers who had
Jewish friends. Those believers were giving *Muwalat *(support, help, etc.)
to these Jews. Some of the *Sahabah* (r.a.a.) said to those believers:
"Keep away from those Jews and beware of their friendship for they could
seduce you away from your religion and guide you astray after you have
believed". However this group of believers disobeyed the advice and
remained loyal to their Jewish friends; and so Allah (s.w.t.) revealed "Let
not the believers take the disbelievers as *Awliya'*".

Al-Qurtubi also reports in his *Tafseer*, narrated by Ibn Abbas (r.a.a.)
that the *Ayat* was revealed with respect to 'Ubadah bin us-Saamet
Al-Ansari Al-Badri who had a coalition of Jews. On the day of Al-Ahzaab,
'Ubadah said to the Prophet (s.a.w.): "O Prophet of Allah, I have a fellow
of five hundred Jews; I see that they should come with me for support
against the enemy". In this incidence, Allah (s.w.t.) revealed the
aforementioned *Ayat.*

*The General Meaning of the Ayah*

Allah (s.w.t.) forbids His Believers from exhibiting any form of *Muwalat *to
the disbelievers. This includes the manifestation of love and compassion to
strengthen the ties with them or to regard them as companions and friends
because of their kinship or acquaintance. The Believer can not be an ally
of Allah's enemies and it is impossible for a person to combine the love of
Allah (s.w.t.) and the love of his enemies because this is a combination of
opposites; therefore, he who loves Allah, must also hate His enemies.

It is forbidden upon the Muslim to give *Muwalat *to the disbelievers and
forsake the believers. There is no association or relationship whatsoever
between *Iman* and *Kufur*. The preceding noble *Ayat* forewarns us
from *Muwalat
Al-Kafireen* and alerts us to the consequences of such an action, with one
exception being in extreme necessity when one must avoid or protect oneself
from the harm or injury inflicted upon by disbelievers by presenting an
outer appearance that belies what one conceals inside. This is known as *
Taqiyyah*, and it is only permitted under such circumstances.

The noble *Ayat* concludes by strongly threatening those who disobey Allah
and show *Muwalat *to the disbelievers. This threat indicates the magnitude
of such a sin.

*The Definition of Al-Wala'u wa Al-Bara' in the Islamic Belief*

The legal meaning of *Al-Wala'* (love, support, help, follow, etc.) is to
totally agree with the sayings, deeds and beliefs which please Allah and
the persons whom He likes. *Al-Bara'* (despise, desert, keep innocent of,
etc.) is the complete opposite of *Al-Wala'* and it is to disagree with
everything that Allah hates and condemns. Hence, there are four issues
related to the belief in *Al-Wala'u wa Al-Bara'*, those being: the sayings,
the deeds, the beliefs and the individual persons. Some of the things that
pleases Allah (s.w.t.) are the saying of *Dhikr*, the deed of *Jihad*, the
belief in His Oneness and the love of the believing person. Backbiting,
fornication, S*hirk* and disbelief are some of the things that are hated by
Allah (s.w.t.) and must also be hated by the Believer.

*The Rank of the Belief in Al-Wala'u wa Al-Bara'*

The belief in *Al-Wala'u wa Al-Bara'* occupies a meritorious rank in the
Islamic *Aqeedah*. This can be understood from the following reasons:
*Al-Wala'u wa Al-Bara'* is part of the *Shahadah* (testimony of faith)
that being *'La ilaha'* which is the portion from *'La ilaha illallah'*.
This means to be free and immune from all that is worshiped besides Allah
(s.w.t.) as He the Almighty states: "And verily, We have sent among every *
Ummah* (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming) : 'Worship Allah
(alone), and avoid (or keep away from) *Taghut* (all false deities, ie. do
not worship *Taghut* besides Allah)" (16:36).
The eminent creed of *Al-Wala'u wa Al-Bara'* is the strongest bond of *Iman*.
Al-Barra' bin A'aazeb (r.a.a.) narrates that the Prophet (s.a.w.) said:
"The strongest bond of *Iman* is the love for Allah's sake and the hatred
for Allah's sake" (Reported by Imam Ahmad).
It is one of the basis by which the heart can experience the beauty of *Iman
* and absolute assurance. The Prophet (s.a.w.) said: "Whoever possesses the
following three (qualities) will have the sweetness (delight) of faith: The
one to whom Allah and His Messenger become dearer than anything else, who
loves a person and he loves him only for Allah's sake, and who hates to
revert to atheism (disbelief) as he hates to be thrown into the fire".
[Bukhary and Muslim]
It is the foundation by which all relationships and dealings in a Muslim
community is built upon as described by the Prophet (s.a.w.): "None of you
will have faith till he likes for his (Muslim) brother what he likes for
himself" (Bukhari), and by Wisdom of the Almighty: "The believers are
nothing else than brothers (in Islamic religion)" (49:10).
The great and abundant reward is due to those who are characterised by the
love of each other for the sake of Allah (s.w.t.). The Prophet (s.a.w.)
articulates: "Those who love me will be (standing) upon pulpits made of
light on the day of Resurrection" . He (s.a.w.) also said: "There will be
seven (categories of people) for whom Allah will Shed (Protect) under His
Shade, when there will not be any shade except His", one of those
categories is "Two men who loved each other for Allah's sake. They
congregate for His Sake, and they separate for His Sake".
It is the most powerful tie or relationship that links between people.
Allah (s.w.t.) has given it the precedence and priority over all types of
ties by Asserting: "Say: If your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your
wives, your kindred, the wealth that you have gained, the commerce in which
you fear a decline, and the dwellings in which you delight ... are dearer
to you than Allah and His Messenger, and striving hard and fighting in His
Cause, then wait until Allah brings about His Decision (torment). And Allah
guides not the people who are *Fasiqun* (the rebellious, disobedient to
Allah)" (9:24).
It is by the means of the creed of *Al-Wala'u wa Al-Bara'* that Allah
grants His *Walayah* (the protection, power, authority and kingdom). Ibn
Jareer reports the saying of Ibn Abbas (r.a.a.): "He who loves for Allah's
sake and hates for Allah's sake, he who gives *Muwalat *(support, help,
etc.) for Allah's sake and exhibits enmity for Allah's sake, will attain
Allah's *Walayah*".
The relationship of *Al-Wala'u wa Al-Bara'* will be theonone to remain on
the Day of Reckoning as foretold by Allah the All-Knowing: "When those who
were followed, disown (declare themselves innocent of) those who followed
(them), and they see the torment, then all their relations will be cut off
from them" (2:166).
He who loves other than Allah and His Religion and hates Him (s.w.t.), His
Religion or followers is a definite disbeliever, "And if any amongst you
takes them (Jews and Christians) as *Awliya'*, then surely he is one of
them" (5:51). The *Al-Wala'u wa Al-Bara'* is an integral part of *Iman* and
is necessary for its perfection. In a Hadith: "He who loves for Allah's
pleasure, hates for Allah's pleasure, donates for Allah's sake and deprives
for Allah's sake, then that person has perfected his *Iman*" [Sound Hadith
related by Ahmad and Tirmithi] n *

[PF:167698] Prophet Yusuf (Joseph) [PBUH] (part 2)

In the name of Allah, the Most-Merciful, the All-Compassionate

"May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon You"

Praise be to Allaah, we seek His help and His forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of our own souls and from our bad deeds. Whomsoever Allaah guides will never be led astray, and whomsoever Allaah leaves astray, no one can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allaah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam 'ala Rasulillah
As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu

Prophet Yusuf (Joseph) [PBUH]

The Brothers Lie to Jacob

And they came to their father in the early part of the night weeping. Surah 12: 16

The scene here is dark night, broken by the crying of ten men. The father is sitting in his house when the sons enter, the darkness of night covering the darkness of their hearts and the darkness of their lies struggling to come out. Jacob wondered aloud: "Why this weeping? Has anything happened to the flock?" They answered crying: "0 our father! We went racing with one another, and left Joseph by our belongings and a wolf devoured him; but you will never believe us even when we speak the truth. Surah 12: 17

"We were surprised after returning from the race that Joseph was in the belly of the wolf."
"We did not see him!"
'You will not believe us even though we are truthful, but we are telling you what happened!"
"The wolf has eaten Joseph!"
"This is Josephs shirt. We found it soiled with blood, and did not find Joseph!"
And they brought his shirt stained with false blood. Surah 12: 18

Deep down in his heart Jacob knew that his beloved son was still alive and that his other sons were lying. He held the blood-stained shirt in his hands, spread it out and remarked: "What a merciful wolf! He ate up my beloved son without tearing his shirt!" Their faces turned red when he demanded more information, but each one swore by Allah that he was telling the truth. The broken hearted father burst into tears: "Nay, but your ownselves have made up a tale. So (for me) patience is most fitting. And it is Allah (Alone) whose Help can be sought against that which you assert. " Surah 12: 18

The father acted wisely by praying for mighty patience which is free of doubt and by trusting in Allah for help against what they had plotted against him and his son. This scene dims, and the scene opens in the well with which Joseph had been thrown.

Joseph Finds Comfort in Allah

In the dark well Joseph managed to find a stone ledge to hold onto. Around him was total darkness and an eerie silence. Fearful thoughts entered his mind: what would happen to him? where would he find food? why had his own brothers turned against him? would his father know of his plight? His father's smile flashed before him, recalling the love and affection he had always shown him. Joseph began to pray earnestly, pleading to Allah for salvation. Gradually his fear began to subside. His Creator was testing the young man with a great misfortune in order to infuse in him a spirit of patience and courage. Joseph surrendered himself to the will of his Lord.

Joseph From the Well to Slavery

The next scene shows the wide desert. At the horizon is a long line of camels, horses, and men: a caravan on its way to Egypt. The caravan of merchants halted at this famous well for water. A man lowered in his bucket. Joseph was startled by the bucket hurtling down and grabbed hold of it before it could land in the water. As the man began to haul he felt the load unusually heavy, so he peeped into the well. What he saw shocked him: a man was clinging to the rope! He held the rope tightly and shouted to his friends: "Better give me a hand fellows! Looks like I found real treasure in the well!"
His companions rushed to the well and helped him to pull out the stranger holding onto the rope. Standing before them was a healthy, handsome youth, beaming with an angelic smile. They saw in him a handsome prize, for money was all that mattered to them. Immediately, they clapped iron shackles on his feet and took him along to Egypt, far away from his beloved homeland of Canaan.

All over the Egyptian city the news spread that an unusually handsome, robust young slave was on sale. People gathered by the hundreds at the slave market. Some were spectators, others were bidders the elite and the rich, each one craning his neck to view the handsome specimen. The auctioneer had a field day as the bidding went wild, each buyer trying to outbid the other. Eventually, the Aziz, the chief minister of Egypt, outbid all the others and took Joseph to his mansion.

The Quran describes this scene as follows: And there came a caravan of travelers; they sent their water-drawer, and he let down his bucket (into the well). He said: "What a good news! Here is a boy." So they hid him as merchandise (a slave). And Allah was the All-Knower of what they did.
And they sold him for a low price, - for a few Dirhams (i.e. for a few silver coins). And they were of those who regarded him insignificant.
And he (the man) from Egypt who bought him, said to his wife: "Make his stay comfortable, may be he will profit us or we shall adopt him as a son." Thus did We establish Joseph in the land, that We might teach him the interpretation of events. Surah 12: 19-21

See how Allah the Almighty reveals the substance of this long story from its beginning: And Allah has full power and control over His Affairs, but most of men know not. Surah 12: 21

The chains of slavery have closed on Joseph. He was cast into the well, deprived of his father, picked from the well, made a slave, sold at the market, and made the property of this man, the Aziz, the chief minister. The hazards followed in quick succession, leaving Joseph helpless.

Josephs Master

What we see as hazards and slander is the first step of the ladder on Joseph's way to greatness. Allah is decisive in His action. His plan is carried out despite the plans of others and while theirs are still being made. So He spoils their plan, and Allah's promise is realized. Allah had promised Joseph prophethood. Love for Joseph was thrust into the heart of the man who bought him, and he was a man of no mean position. He was an important personage, one of the ruling class of Egypt.
Therefore, Joseph was pleasantly surprised when the chief minister of Egypt ordered his men to remove the heavy shackles from his swollen feet. He was also surprised when he told Joseph not to betray his trust; he would not be ill-treated if he behaved himself. Joseph smiled at his benefactor, thanked him, and promised to be loyal.

Joseph felt at ease, for at last he was sheltered and would be well cared for. He thanked Allah over and over and wondered at the mysteries of life. Not so long ago he had been cast into a deep, dark well with no hope of ever coming out alive. Next he was rescued, then enslaved in iron shackles, and now he was moving freely in a luxurious mansion, with enough food to enjoy. However, his heart ached with longing for his parents and brother Benjamin, and he shed tears daily.

Joseph was made the personal attendant of the chief minister's wife. He was obedient and ever-obliging. With his pleasant manners and charming behavior, he won everybody's heart.

The People's Feelings toward Joseph

Joseph's handsomeness became the talk of the town. People referred to him as the most attractive man they had ever seen and wrote poetry about him. His face carried immaculate beauty. The purity of his inner soul and his heart showed in his face, increasing his beauty. People from afar came to the city to have a glimpse of him. The prettiest of maidens and the richest of ladies nursed the desire to possess him, but not once did he show haughtiness or conceit. He was always humble and polite.

Josephs Qualities

The days passed and Joseph grew. Almighty Allah said: And when he (Joseph) attained his full manhood. We gave him wisdom and knowledge (the Prophethood), thus We reward the doers of good. Surah 12: 22
He was given wisdom in affairs and knowledge of life and its conditions. He was given the art of conversation, captivating those who heard him. He was given nobility and self-restraint, which made him an irresistible personality. His master soon knew that Allah had graced him with Joseph. He understood that Joseph was the most honest, straightforward and noble person he had met in his life. Therefore, he put Joseph in charge of his household, honored him, and treated him as a son.

to be contd....

Sayyiduna Abu al-Hasan Ali, Imam Zain al-'Abideen is the fourth Imam and Shaykh of the Silsila Aaliyah Qaadiriyah Barakaatiyah Razviyah Nooriyah. He was one of the greatest Aabids of his era. Imam Zuhri (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho) says, (In my era) I have not seen any Quraysh more excellent than Imam Zain al-'Abideen (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho). Hadrat Ibn Abbas (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho) used to look at Imam Zain al-'Abideen (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho) and refer to him as the Beloved of the Beloved.

BIRTH:

He was born on a Thursday the 5th of Shabaan 38 Hijri in Madinah Munawwarah. [Masaalik as-Saalikeen, Vol. 1, Page 207]

NAME:

Hadrat Imam Hussain kept most of his children names attached to the name Ali. This was due to his love for his father Sayyiduna Ali (Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anho). He was thus also named Ali. He was also known as Abu Muhammad, Abul Hassan, Abul Qaasim and Abu Bakr. His titles were Sajjad, Zain al-'Aabideen, Sayyidul Abideen, Zakki and etc.

EDUCATION:

He spent two years with his grandfather Sayyiduna Ali (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho), ten years with his uncle Sayyiduna Imam Hasan (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho) and eleven years with his father, Hadrat Imam Hussain (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho).

BLESSED MOTHER:

His mother was known as Umm-e-Wulad, and was also known as Shahar Banu Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anha. She was very pious and Allah fearing.

He was the image of his grandfather Sayyiduna Ali (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho). He was tan in complexion and not very tall. He had a full beard on which he used henna (mehndi).

PREDICTIONS OF HIS BIRTH:

Hadrat Jaabir (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho) says, I was in the blessed court of the Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam) and Imam Hussain (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho) was in the blessed arms of the Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam). The Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam) said, O Jaabir (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho)! A son shall be born to him, whose name shall be Ali. Then he will have a child, whose name shall be Muhammad (Imam Baaqir). O Jaabir! If you meet with him, then you should pass my salaams to him.

HIS CHARACTER:

Hadrat Imam Zain al-'Abideen (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho) was blessed with beautiful character, which he definitely inherited from his illustrious forefathers. He was very eloquent and very respectful. He was always willing to assist those in need. Umar Abu Nasr writes that Imam Zain al-'Abideen (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho) purchased various slaves, and then set them free. He would be kind even to those who were his personal enemies. Once he heard that there was a certain person who always spoke ill of him. Hadrat Imam Zain al-'Abideen (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho) went to him and treated him with such respect and kindness, that he repented from his bad behaviour and affiliated himself to the great Imam. Many great poets have written numerous Qasidas in praise of his kindness and generosity. [

HIS EXCELLENCE:

Abu Haazim says, I have not seen any Jurist more exalted than him.

Zahbi and Ainiyah have said, We have not seen any Quraish more exalted than him.

Ibn Abi Shaiba says, In Hadith, the most exalted chain of transmission is that which is narrated from Imam Zain al-'Abideen, (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho) where he narrates from his father Imam Hussain (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho). [
Masaalik as-Saalikeen]

Hadrat Imam Zain al-'Abideen (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho) was always prepared to sacrifice everything he had for Islam. He sacrificed all his wealth twice for Islam. He was a very generous person. He used to discreetly send money to the poor people living in Madinah Shareef and none of them knew that the money was coming from him. The only time this became known to them, was after his wisaal. HIS PATIENCE :

He was a person with great patience. After the Battle of Karbala, HE was marched to Damascus in chains and in the time of Abdul Malik bin Marwan , he was arrested and chained. He was then forced to walk from Madinah to Syria in chains. With all this, he never complained or said one word about his condition in the Court of Allah . He instead remained patient and made Shukr (thanked Allah ) on every step. Imam Zain al-'Abideen's most loyal student Sayyiduna Imam Zuhri could not bear to see the Imam in this condition, so he went to Abdul Malik bin Marwaan, and had the great Imam released. He then took him back to Madinah Shareef with great respect. [Khazinat al-Asfiyah, Vol.1, Page 31/32]

Hadrat Imam Zain al-'Abideen had a very soft heart and always thought of the sacrifice that was given by his Father Imam Hussain and all the other Martyrs on the plains of Karbala.

Once, he was walking in the blessed streets of Madinah Munawwarah, when he saw a person placing a goat on the ground, and was sharpening the knife before making the animal zibah. On seeing this, he became very saddened and thought of the martyrdom of his father. He then began to weep bitterly and asked the man, "My dear Brother! Did you give the goat some food and water or not?"The man replied that he had fed and given water to the goat for the past three days and had also fed it water just before laying in down. On hearing this, Hadrat Imam Zain al-'Abideen let out a sigh of pain and said, "It is sad, that the people of Kufa did not even care for him like (you care for) the goat. They starved him for three days and nights and then martyred him in this state."
[Masaalik as-Saalikeen]

He used to perform one thousand rakaats of nafil salaah every night. One night whilst he was performing his nafils, his house caught on fire. The people were rushing around trying to put of the fire, but he continued his Namaaz with total sincerity. After he completed his salaah, the people told him that his house had caught on fire and yet he continued reading his salaat (Namaaz) without any showing any sign of panic. He said, "You were trying to extinguish this fire, and I was trying to extinguish the fire of the hereafter."
[Khazinat al-Asfiyah, Vol.1, Page 31]

A person once swore at Imam Zain al-Abideen (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho) and made slanderous remarks to him.

In response, Imam Zain al-Abideen (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho) said to him: 'If the attributes, you accuse me of, are found in me then I repent to Allah Azzawajal and ask for forgiveness. If the attributes are not found in me then on your behalf I ask Allah Azzawajal for forgiveness and repentance.'

The person saw Imam Zain al-Abideen's patience and was overwhelmed by it. He stood up, kissed Imam Zain al-Abideen (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho) on the forehead and said: 'May my soul be sacrificed for you! Whatever I accused you of was wrong. I seek forgiveness from you and I request you to pray to Allah Azzawajal for the acceptance of my repentance.'

Imam Zain al-Abideen (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho) agreed to pray to Allah Azzawajal on his behalf.

HIS IBAADAT:

After the shahaadat of his blessed father Imam Hussain (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho), he completely divorced himself from the materialistic world. He spent all his time in the remembrance of Allah. He would pass his days and nights thinking of the tragedy of Karbala and weeping. When Hadrat Imam Zain al-'Abideen (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho) used to sit down to perform wudhu, then his face used to become pale, and when he stood in Namaaz, then his complexion would change to such an extent, that it would be difficult to recognise him. The people would ask, O Beloved of the Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam)! What has happened to you?and he said, O People! Namaaz is a time when you are present in the Court of Allah. Who is so naive as to smile and look happy, when he is standing before his Creator. [Awaarif al-Ma'arif, Page 475]

He used to perform one thousand rakaats of nafil salaah every night. One night whilst he was performing his nafils, his house caught on fire. The people were rushing around trying to put of the fire, but he continued his Namaaz with total sincerity. After he completed his salaah, the people told him that his house had caught on fire and yet he continued reading his Namaaz without any showing any sign of panic. He said, You were trying to extinguish this fire, and I was trying to extinguish the fire of the hereafter.
[Khazinat al-Asfiyah, Vol.1, Page 31]

Imam Talha Shafi'i (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho) writes that once shaitaan appeared in the form of a snake whist the Imam was in Salaah. He caught the toe of Hadrat Imam Zain al-'Abideen in his mouth, but the Imam did not even move or show sign of discomfort. After some time, he became disillusioned and stood a distance away from the Imam. Then, a voice was heard thrice, saying the following words, You are the Jewel of the Worshipper, You are the Chief of those who prostrate (to Allah).

HIS FEAR FOR ALLAH:

He was a personality who truly feared Allah. His heart flowed with the fear of Allah. Once during Hajj, he tied his Ehraam but did not say the Labbaik. The people asked him the reason for this, and he said, I fear the I will say Labbaik and Allah will say, I do not accept your presence (Hajj). The people then told him that his Ehraam would not be proper if he did not say Labbaik. He then said Labbaik, and began to tremble in the fear of Allah until he fell off his camel and became unconscious. This continued throughout the Hajj, every time that he said Labbaik.
[Khazinat al-Asfiyah]

RECITATION OF THE HOLY QUR'AN:

Hadrat Imam Jaafar Saadiq (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho) says, When my grandfather, Hadrat Imam Zain al-'Abideen (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho) used to recite the Quran, then the beauty of his recitation attracted the people towards him and all those listening to him would become so overwhelmed with the fear of Allah, that one did not know the condition of the other.

RETURN FROM THE BATTLE OF KARBALA:

When Imam Zain al-'Abideen was returning to Madinah after the Battle of Karbala, he said a few stanzas. A few stanzas are being presented for blessing.

"O Winds! If someday you pass by the sacred land, then pass my salaams
before the Rawda al-Aqdas where the most exalted Nabi rests

The Sadness of separation from Madinah feels
like a sword stuck deep into my liver

How fortunate are the people of that city in
which is the Exalted and Beloved Prophet

O Rahmatulil Aalameen! Assist Zain al-'Abideen.
Who is standing alone and in difficulty amongst the tyrants."

Once a person asked Imam Zain al-'Abideen about who will be looked upon as pious and good on the last day and he said,
"That person, who when he is happy, his happiness does not drive him towards wrong and that person, when he is angry, then his anger does not remove him from what is right."

In other words, when you are happy, you should not let your happiness take you towards bad deeds and when you are angry, then you should not allow your anger to blind you from that which is right. [Masaalik as-Saalikeen]

RESPECT FOR THE KHULAFA:

Once some people from Iraq, came to visit Imam Zain al-'Abideen (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho). During their visit, they began to say disrespectful words concerning Hadrat Abu Bakr, Hadrat Umar and Hadrat Uthman (Ridwanullahi Ta'aal Alaihim Ajma'een).

When they had completed saying what they wished to, He said, Tell me, are you from amongst the first Muhajireen, concerning whom Almighty Allah says, "Those who were driven out from their homes and their possessions seeking the grace of Allah and His Pleasure, and helping Allah and His Messenger. They are the truthful." [Surah Hashr verse 8]

They replied in the negative, by saying that the verse did not refer to them. Hadrat Imam Zain al-'Abideen (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho) then asked if they were from amongst the Ansaar, concerning whom Almighty Allah says in the Quran, And those who had established their homes in this city, with faith, from inception, They, (who) show love to those, who migrated towards them, and who find no need in their hearts, for that which has been left, and they give preference to them over their lives, even though they are in great need. [Surah Hashr verse 9]

Again, they answered in the negative. He then said, I swear, that you are not even worthy of this verse of the Quran wherein Allah says, And those who came after them say, O Allah! Pardon us and our brothers, who brought faith before us, And keep not in our hearts hostility towards those with Imaan. O Our Lord, Verily you are most Compassionate, Most Merciful.

After saying this, he asked them to leave his presence. In other words, he showed them that they were not from amongst the Muhajireen, or the Ansaar, or even from amongst the believers. He therefore shunned them for being disrespectful to the Khulafa-e-Thalaasa.

KARAAMAT:

The Karaamats of Imam Zain al-'Abideen are numerous, but a few are being quoted for attaining blessings.

Incident During Hajj:

Two people where making tawaaf of the Kaaba and came to Hajr-e-Aswad. When they touched the Hajr-e-Aswad, both their hands became stuck on it. People tried very hard to release their hands, but it was not possible. Hadrat Imam Zain al-'Abideen entered the Haram whilst this was happening. He said Bismillah hir rahmaan nir rahim and then placed his hands on the Hajr-e-Aswad. Immediately the two peoples hands were released. [Khazinat al-Asfiyah, Vol. 1, Page 34]

The Deer:

Once Hadrat had gone into the jungle with his companions. As they sat to eat, a deer passed by them. The Imam called to the deer and asked it to partake in the meal with them. The Deer immediately came to the Imam and partook in the meal provided. [Masaalik as-Saalikeen, Vol. 1, Page 11]

A Deers Complaint:

A deer once came to Hadrat Imam Zain al-'Abideen (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho), whilst he was in a jungle. The animal fell to the ground and began to say something. Those with the Imam asked what had happened. The Imam said that the deer was complaining about a man who captured her child. Hadrat Imam Zain al-'Abideen (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho) summoned the man. The man brought with him the child belonging to the deer. Imam Zain al-'Abideen (Radi ALLAHu Ta'ala Anho) asked him to release the deer, which he gladly did. After some time, the deer took its young, and said something and then left. Those present were amazed and asked the Imam what the deer said as she left. The Imam said, She said, JazakAllahu fi Darain Khair.

[Masaalik as-Saalikeen]

WISAAL SHARIF:

He was given poison by Waleed bin Abdul Malik and was thus made shaheed on the 18th of Muharram and according to some narrations on the 12th or 22nd of Muharram at the age of 57 or 58. He passed away in Madinatul Munawwarah and his Mazaar Shareef is in Jannatul Baqi. Few have said that his Mazar Sharif is in Egypt and there is a Mosque and Shrine of Imam Zain al-'Adideen in Cairo, Egypt as well but the majority have accepted his Mazar Sharif being in Baqee al Garqad, Madina Munawwarah. ALLAH Knows the Best!

After his wisaal, his camel placed its head on his mazaar shareef and cried. Hadrat Imam Baqir tried to move it away, but it refused. In the end, he said, "She will die in this exact place." Eventually she did pass away at the Mazaar of Imam Zain al-'Abideen.

[PF:167695] Night of Bara’ah & Fasting On 15th Of Shabaan

Bismillaah, wal-hamdulilaah, was-salaatu was-salaamu 'alaa rasoolillaah,
Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatuallahi wa barakatuhu

When a month has exclusive days for fasting then it has a special day or night for exclusive reward as well.

Examples

Ramadaan fasting and singling out night of Qadr -Reward all sins forgiven
And it was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Whoever spends this night in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward will be forgiven his previous sins." Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1901; Muslim, 760.
The Book of Prayers (Kitab Al-Salat) Muslim :: Book 4 : Hadith 1668
Zirr (b. Hubaish) reported: I heard from Ubayy b. Ka'b a statement made by 'Abdullah b. Mas'ud in which he said: He who gets up for prayer (every night) during the year will hit upon Lailat-ul-Qadr. Ubayy said: By Allah I there is no god but He, that (Lailat-ul-Qadr) is in Ramadhan (He swore without reservation: ) By Allah, I know the night; it is the night on which the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) commanded us to pray. It is that which precedes the morning of twenty-seventy and its indication is that the sun rises bright on that day without rays.

Six days of the month of Shawwal: Reward as if fasted the entire year
Abu Ayyoub reported that the Messenger of Allah, salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam said "Whoever fasts the month of Ramadhan and then follows it by fasting six days during the month of Shawwal will be rewarded as if he had fasted the entire year. [Muslim, at-Tirmithi, Ibn Majah, Abu Dawood and Ahmad by way of Jabir].

Dhul Hijjah: Fasting 9 days -including day of `Arafah: This is for those who are not performing the Hajj (pilgrimage) Reward expiation [of sins] for two years
Abu Qatadah said : the Messenger of Allah, salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam, said: "Fasting on the day of `Arafah is an expiation [of sins] for two years, the year preceding it and the year following it and the fasting the day of `Aashuraa' is an expiation for the year preceding it. [Muslim, an-Nasa'i, Ibn Majah, Abu Dawood].

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to fast on the first nine days of Dhu'l-Hijjah. It was narrated from Hunaydah ibn Khaalid from his wife, that one of the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to fast on the first nine days of Dhu'l-Hijjah and the day of 'Ashoora', and three days each month, the first Monday of the month and two Thursdays. Narrated by al-Nasaa'i, 4/205 and by Abu Dawood; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 2/462.

- Fasting three days of every month:reward like fasting the whole year
Abu Tharr Al-Ghefari said: "The Messenger of Allah, salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam, said "Whoever fasts from every month three days, it is like fasting the whole year, then Allah revealed what backs this in His book "Whoever comes with a good deed, he is rewarded ten folds", one day for ten. [Ibn Majah and at-Tirmithi].

Fasting on Monday and Thursday & reward is Allah's forgives
Abu Hurairah reported that the most the Prophet, salla Allahu alaihi wa salam, would fast would be Monday and Thursday. He was asked about that and he said: "The deeds of people are presented to Allah on every Monday and Thursday. Allah forgives every Muslim except for those who are deserting each other. He says: "leave them for later." [Ahmad; Hasan]

Fasting in Sha'baan & 15th of Sha'baan
Muslim (1156) narrated that Abu Salamah said: "I asked 'Aa'ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) about the fasting of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and she said: 'He used to fast until we thought that he would always fast, then he would not fast until we thought that he would always not fast, but I never saw him fast in any month more than he fasted in Sha'baan. He used to fast all of Sha'baan, and he used to fast all of Sha'baan apart from a few days.'"
Night 15th of Sha'ban with the start of Maghrib[Allah forgives in Tahajjud and its time is third part of night] and fasting on the day of 15 Shaban

Abu Musa Al-Ashar'ee (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that Allah's messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Verily Allah looks at His creation on the 15th of Sha'ban and forgives everyone except a person who commits shirk and a person feels rancor towards his brother . Collected by Ibn Majah (1390) Ibn Abee Asim (510) and others .

The Book of Fasting (Kitab Al-Sawm) Muslim :: Book 6 : Hadith 2607
'Imran b. Husain (Allah be pleased with them) reported Allah's Messenger (may peace he upon him) having said to him or to someone else: Did you fast in the middle of Sha'ban? He said: No. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: If you did not observe fast, then you should observe fast for two days.

Note:Worship and avoid biddah. Its not about life span and provision, souls of departed ones returning to their families or Visiting graveyards but its about forgiveness as mentioned in the hadith.

Not singling out night preceding Friday is only for friday.
The Book of Fasting (Kitab Al-Sawm) Muslim :: Book 6 : Hadith 2546
Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) as saying: Do not single out the night (preceding) Friday among the nights for prayer and do not single out Friday among days for fasting but only when anyone among you is accustomed to fast (on dates) which coincide with this day (Friday).Islam Question and Answer - Ruling on singling out Friday for fasting

"When the Middle Night of Shabaan arrives, you should stand (Praying) in the night and should fast in the day following it.This Hadith is recorded by Ibn Majah in his Sunan, one of the famous six books of Hadith, and also by Baihaqi in his famous book Shu'ab-al-'iman'. Both of them have reported it without any comment about its authenticity. But after a critical analysis of its chain of narrators it is found that this tradition is mainly based on the report of Abu Bakr Ibn Abi Saburah whose narrations cannot be relied upon. That is why the scholars of Hadith have declared it as a weak (da'if) tradition.
However, the allegation that the narrator of this Hadith i.e. Abu Bakr ibn Abi Saburah, is a fabricator who used to coin forged traditions does not seem correct. In fact, he was mufti of Madinah, a well-known jurist and he was appointed as a qadi (Judge) of Iraq in the days of Mansur and was succeeded in this office by Imam Abu Yousuf. He was a colleague of Imam Malik.

Once Mansur, the Abbasi Caliph, asked Imam Malik referred to three names, and one of them was that of Ibn Abi Saburah. Had he been a fabricator, Imam Malik would have never referred to his name in this context. But despite his high position among the jurists, his memory was not of the standard required for the uthenticity of a tradition. That is why most of the critics of Hadith like Imam Bukhari etc. Have held him as weak, but did not declare him a fabricator. Only Imam Ahmed is reported to have remarked about him that he fabricates Hadith. But this remark alone is not sufficient to hold him as a fabricator, for two reasons: Firstly Imam Ahmed was born long after him, and his contemporary scholars never held him as such, secondly the Arabic words used by Imam Ahmed are some times used for confusing one tradition with another, and not for deliberate fabrication.

This is the reason why the majority of the scholars of Hadith have held Abu Bakr ibn Abi Saburah as a weak reporter of Hadith, but they did not declare him as a forger or fabricator. Now, coming to his tradition about the fast of the 15th Ramadan it is held by the scholars to be weak but i have not come across an authentic scholar who has treated it as a fabricated (Mawdu) Hadith. There are a number of books indicating the fabricated Ahadith, but this tradition is not included in these books as fabricated.

It is well-known that Ibn Majah consists of about twenty Ahadith held to be fabricated. The list of these fabricated AHadith is available, but the tradition in question is not included therein.

Therefore, the correct position is that this Hadith is not fabricated. However, being reported by a weak narrator, it cannot be relied upon in the matter of the injunctions of Shariah. Thus, the fast of the 15th of Shabaan cannot be termed as Sunnah or Mustahab in the strict sense of the term. Nevertheless, it may be advisable to fast in the 15th of Shabaan without taking it as Sunnah for several reasons:

Firstly it is fully established through a large number of Ahadith that the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) has emphasized on the merits of fasting in Shabaan, and particularly in the first half of the month. The 15th day of Shabaan, being the last day of the first half, is included in the preferable days for fasting."Excerpts The Fast Of 15th Shaban (Revised opinion of Mufti Taqi Usmani)

Reward of Fasting in general (taken from Sahih Muslim):
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (Allaah be pleased with him) reported Allaah's Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) as saying: He who observes fast for a day in the way of Allaah He would remove his face from the Hell to the extent of seventy years' distance. No. 2572

Sahl b. Sa'd (Allaah be pleased with him) reported Allaah's Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) as saying: In Paradise there is a gate which is called Rayyan through which only the observers of fast would enter on the Day on Resurrection. None else would enter along with them. It would be proclaimed: Where are the observers of fast that they should be admitted into it? -and when the last of them would enter, it would be closed and no one would enter it. No. 2569

Abu Huraira (Allaah be pleased with him) reported Allaah's Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) as saying: Every (good) deed of the son of Adam would be multiplied, a good deed receiving a tenfold to seven hundredfold reward. Allaah, the Exalted and Majestic, has said: With the exception of fasting, for it is done for Me and I will give a reward for it, for one abandons his passion and food for My sake. There are two occasions of joy for one who fasts, joy when he breaks it, and joy
when he meets his Lord, and the breath (of an observer of fast) is sweeter to Allaah than the fragrance of musk. No. 2567

Abu Huraira reported Allaah's Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) as saying: Fasting is a shield. No. 2565

wallahu al'am.

Al-Tirmidhi HadithHadith 2482 Narrated by AbuHurayrah  (May Allah be pleased with him)
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) used to say, " O Allah, grant me benefit in what Thou hast taught me, teach me what will benefit me, and increase my knowledge. Praise be to Allah in all circumstances. I seek refuge in Allah from the state of those who go to Hell."
Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah transmitted it, Tirmidhi saying this is a tradition whose isnad is gharib.
