[karachi-Friends] Daily Qur'an & Hadith 09 May 2013 (29 Jamadi us'Sani 1434)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[22].Surah Al-Hajj [The Pilgrimage]

Ayat 66. It is Allah, Who gave you life, and then will cause you to die, and will again give you life (on the Day of Resurrection). Truly! Man is indeed a most ungrateful creature.

Ayat 67. For every nation We have ordained religious ceremonies and rituals [e.g. slaughtering of the beast of cattle during the three days of stay at Mina (Makkah) during the Hajj (pilgrimage)] which they must follow; so let them (pagans) not dispute with you on the matter (i.e. to eat of the cattle which you slaughter, and not to eat of cattle which Allah kills by its natural death), but invite them to your Lord. Verily! You (O Muhammad [SAWW](PBUH) indeed are on the (true) straight guidance. (i.e. the true religion of Islamic Monotheism).

[Tafseer]  Ayat 66. Surely it is Allah Who gave us life, will cause us to die, and will again give life: but man is a most ungrateful creature! Ayat 67. To every People have Allah appointed rites and ceremonies which they must follow: let them not then dispute with thee on the matter, but do thou invite (them) to thy Lord: for thou art assuredly on the Right Way. Rites and ceremonies may appear to be an unimportant matter compared with "weightier matters of the Law" and with the higher needs of man's spiritual nature. But they are necessary for social and religious organization, and their effect on the individual himself is not to be despised. In any case, as they are visible external symbols, they give rise to the most heated controversies. Such controversies are to be deprecated. That does not mean that our rites and ceremonies are to be made light of. Those in Islam rest on the highest social and religious needs of man, and if we are convinced that we are on the  Right Way , we should invite all to join us, without entering into controversies about such matters. .

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "The religion (of Islam) is easy, and whoever makes the religion a rigour, it will overpower him. So, follow a middle course (in worship); if you can't do this, do something near to it and give glad tidings and seek help (of Allah) at morn and at dusk and some part of night".

[Al-Bukhari Book 01,Chapter 02, Hadith # 038]

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Hajj Ayat 67."For every nation We have ordained religious ceremonies and rituals" Besides moderation in worship, this Hadith enjoins that such times should be fixed for worship when one is fresh so that one feels pleasure in performing it. But this principle is for optional and voluntary prayers only. Obligatory Salat are to be performed at the prescribed times only.
