[PF:168856] Introduction - Pakistan Centre for Development Communication (PCDC)

Dear

I am pleased to introduce to you the 'Pakistan Centre for Development
Communication' (PCDC).

The Centre is the only nonprofit organization in Pakistan that is
providing specialized, development-communication support to NGOs,
mainstream media, local and international development organizations
and corporate sector.

Through specialized training courses, research, publications and
strategic advice for communication-systems development - PCDC is
maximizing the impact of development initiatives and creating a niche
for organizations.

Please see the attached brochure to know more about our service that
are offered through seasoned media and development sector
professionals across Pakistan.

'Media Relations' is our core strength. Whether it is writing and
issuing press releases or reports, inviting journalists for a ceremony
or coordination for on-site visits, we are always successful in
getting the desired results for visibility and recognition. PCDC is
perfectly resourced in terms of personal contacts with journalists,
skills and understanding, software and listings of electronic, print
and social media.

In the field of media training, we have established a strategic
partnership with 'Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists' (PFUJ) which
is the apex representative body of 17,000+ journalists in Pakistan.
PCDC is developing a management capacity building programme for 24
coalescing units of the PFUJ to improve their effectiveness as
professional associations. In terms of scale and impact, it is the
first initiative of its kind in Pakistan that would strengthen
communication and management capacities of journalists associations.
The outcome of this process would be improved conditions of freedom of
expression and democratic rights in the society.

Our team has written and translated numerous books on development
issues; compiled and edited reports, articles and research papers;
designed and implemented 'Behavior Change Communication' campaigns; as
well as produced dozens of newsletters in Urdu and English languages.

To enhance networking among NGOs, the Centre has published Five new
directories, namely; 1) Directory of Nonprofit Organizations in
Pakistan; 2) Directory of Funding Organizations for Nonprofits in
Pakistan; 3) Directory of Capacity Building Organizations of Pakistan;
4) Internet, Print and Electronic Media Directory of Pakistan; and 5)
Nonprofits Publications Directory of Pakistan.

We are offering world-class training courses for NGOs on Development
Communications, Advocacy, Social Mobilization, Organizational
Communication, Social Media, Networking and Strategic Communication
Planning for Nonprofits, Resource Mobilization, and Role of Media in
Development.

Customized 'Organizational Development' Support is also available for
NGOs to conduct strategic communication audit of the organization or
network and develop an effective communication strategy.

We have produced training and advocacy materials for local and
international organizations including 'Earthquake Rehabilitation and
Reconstruction Authority (ERRA), 'Education Sector Reforms Assistance
(ESRA) Program' of the USAID, 'Getting the Balance Right' Project of
the British Council; 'Strengthening Democratic Development in Pakistan
Project' of the Asia Foundation; 'Social Institutions Development
Program' (SIDP) of the Canadian International Development Agency;
'Civil Society Strengthening Programme' of the European Commission;
and Districts that Work (DTW) Programme and many others.

We have lead teams that produced widely acclaimed documentaries for
the European Commission, USAID, USAID/OFDA; British Council and Royal
Netherlands Embassy. Many of these initiatives also involved usage of
'Public Service Messages' on Radio, Television and the Internet; and
our role was there at every level.

In the field of impact assessment, we designed the first-ever GIS/MIS-
based mapping process of a major civil society strengthening
initiative in the Northern Areas. The mapping initiative
scientifically measured outreach, impact and beneficiary profiles
with much more graphic clarity of a development project.

With immaculate event planning and management skills, PCDC has been
able to organize numerous successful launches, conferences,
conventions, dialogues, meetings, and other events.

Our website www.pcdcpk.org is truly emerging as Pakistan's first NGO
portal with tonnes of information about development sector including
lists, analysis and practical guidance.

Further to that, our facebook community is 2700+ members strong and
spread in many countries. http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1795727155&ref=tn_tnmn.
We can generate considerable interest and understanding of your
organizations' work through that committed community.

I am sure you will find this introduction relevant to your development
activities. Perhaps, there is lot more that we can share about our
work if get a chance to meet in person.

Please let me know, if your organization is interested in establishing
a partnership to share more details about us.
