Association of Pakistani American business community in USA Pakistan Chamber of Commerce held annual convention in Houston which was addressed by Pakistani caucus chairperson in US congress Sheila Jackson Lee.
Addressing the convention she expressed her confidence in continuation of US-Pakistan relationship and US support from Kerry Lugar bill. Addressing a big gathering of business community in Houston she promised the support for Pakistani people from Pakistani caucus in US Congress, she said adding that US dollars will be spent on welfare of Pakistani people.
She reminded audience that Kerry Lugar Bill was tied to democracy in Pakistan so that a change can be brought in the lives of people of Pakistan, when the bill was in final stage of formulation two years ago.
She said all these dollars in order and is available to save Pakistan. Congresswoman Lee reiterated support for Pakistan, referring to the discussion taking place in last couple of weeks in Pakistan-Afghanistan border issues.
Commerce secretary in George Bush cabinet, Don Evans informed the audience that George Bush wanted to eliminate poverty from the world when he took power in year 2000, but events of 9/11 changed the whole world as freedom and liberty cannot be compromised over anything. He said that a large number of people in the world are fighting poverty, however lately people are also raising voice for freedom in the world.
Convention awarded the highest award to Mid land energy CEO Mr. Syed Javed Anwar for his business accomplishments and his achievements in short time. Ex US President George W Bush and current Texas Governor Rick Perry and others also congratulated Mr. Anwar through a video message.
The Convention was also addressed by Pakistani Consulate General in Houston M Aqil Nadeem, Chairman of Convention committee Saeed Shaikh, Javed Anwar, Ex Mayor Bill White and other speakers.
Turkey's consulate General AKil Abitin, District Attorney General John Haley, Police Chief Adrian Garcia, Known community leaders Farah Ahmad, Zubair Ahmad, Khalid Khan, Syed Riaz Hussain Shah and others also attend the convention.
