[karachi-Friends] Daily Qur'an & Hadith 04 Nov 2013 (29 Zhu'al-Hijjah 1434)

English Translation of Al-Quran

[26].Surah Ash-Shuara [The Poets]

Ayat 128. "Do you build high palaces on every high place, while you do not live in them?

Ayat 129. "And do you get for yourselves palaces (fine buildings) as if you will live therein for ever.

Ayat 130. "And when you seize, seize you as tyrants?

Ayat 131. "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me.

Ayat 132. "And keep your duty to Him, fear Him Who has aided you with all (good things) that you know.

Ayat 133. "He has aided you with cattle and children.

Ayat 134. "And gardens and springs.

Ayat 135. "Verily, I fear for you the torment of a Great Day."

Tafseer of Ayat 128 to 135. "Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves? Any merely material civilization prides itself on show and parade. Its votaries scatter monuments for all sorts of things in conspicuous places-monuments which commemorate deeds and events which are forgotten in a few generations! Cf. Shelley's poem on Ozymandias: "I am Ozymandias. King of Kings! Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!...Boundless and bare the lonely and level sands stretch far away!" "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? "And when ye exert your strong hand, do ye do it like men of absolute power? "Without any responsibility or consideration for those who come within your power?" "Now fear Allah, and obey me. "Yea, fear Him Who has bestowed on you freely all that ye know. The gifts are described generally, immaterial and material. "All that ye know" includes not only material things, but knowledge and the faculties by which knowledge may be used for human well-being, all that makes life beautiful and refined. "Cattle" means wealth generally, and "sons" means population and manpower. "Gardens and Springs" are things that contribute to the delight and pleasure of man. "Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons, "And Gardens and Springs. "Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Great Day." "But you have misused all those gifts, and you will suffer the inevitable penalties for your misuse and for your ingratitude.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Verily! The world is accursed and what it contains is accursed, except remembrance of Allah and those who associate themselves with Allah; and a learned man, and a learning person.''

[At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2322].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Ash-Shuara Ayat 129.""And do you get for yourselves palaces (fine buildings) as if you will live therein for ever

1. This Hadith does not mean that this world is totally condemned. What it really means is that such things of this world are cursed which take a person away from Allah and make him careless about his obedience. Thus, anything of this world can be good and evil. For instance, worldly goods are auspicious if one acquires them through lawful means and spends them in a permissible manner, otherwise, they are condemnable. Similar is the case of other things of this world.
2. That knowledge is good which brings one closer to Allah and is a source of benefit for mankind, otherwise, it is also condemnable.
3. This Hadith also brings into prominence the distinction of men of learning, especially scholars of religious disciplines.
