English Translation of Al-Quran

[23].Surah Al-Muminun [The Believers]

Ayat 8. Those who are faithfully true to their Amanat (all the duties which Allah has ordained, honesty, moral responsibility and trusts etc.) and to their covenants;

Ayat 9. And those who strictly guard their (five compulsory congregational) Salawât (prayers) (at their fixed stated hours).

Ayat 10. These are indeed the inheritors.

Ayat 11. Who shall inherit the Firdaus (Paradise). They shall dwell therein forever.

[Tafseer] Those who faithfully observe their trusts and their covenants; Trusts may be express or implied. Express trusts are those where property is entrusted or duties are assigned by some one to some other whom he trusts, to carry out either immediately or in specified contingencies, such as death. Implied trusts arise out of power, or position, or opportunity; e.g., a king holds his kingdom on trust from Allah for his subjects: the Afghan official phrase for their kingdom used to be Dawlat-i-Khuda-dad (' God-given kingdom'). The subject of covenants, express and implied, Covenants create obligations, and express and implied trusts and covenants taken together cover the whole field of obligations. And who (strictly) guard their prayers;- In verse 2 we were directed to the spirit of humility and earnestness in our prayers. Here we are told how necessary the habit of regular prayer is to our spiritual well-being and development, as it brings us closer to Allah, and thus sums up the light of the seven jewels of our Faith, viz.: (1) humility, (2) avoidance of vanity, (3) charity, (4) purity, (5) fidelity to trusts, and (6) to covenants, and (7) an earnest desire to get closer to Allah. These will be the heirs, Cf. 21:105, where it is said that the righteous will inherit the earth. In the first verse of this Surah, the final success or victory is referred to. Truth will prevail even on this earth, but it may not be for any individual men of righteousness to see it: it may be in  the time of their heirs and successors. But in the life to come, there is no doubt that every man will see the fruit of his life here, and the righteous will inherit heaven, in the sense that they will attain it after their death here. Who will inherit Paradise: they will dwell therein (forever).

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Ibn Masud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: A man kissed a woman. So he came to the Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) and informed him about it. Then Allah revealed this Ayah: "And perform the Salat, between the two ends of the day and in some hours of the night. Verily, the good deeds efface the evil deeds (i.e., minor sins).'' (11:114) The man asked the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) whether this applies to him only. The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, "It applies to all of my Ummah.''

[Muslim Book # 04, Chapter 85, Hadith # 1376].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Muminun Ayat 09."strictly guard their (five compulsory congregational) Salawât (prayers)" "Between the ends of the day'' means Fajr and Maghrib prayers. Some people think it refers to `Isha' prayer while some think it means the Maghrib and `Isha' prayers. "In some hours of the night'' means the Tahajjud prayers. This Ayah of the Qur'an has been quoted here to stress that Salat is an act of great virtue and an expiation of sins, but only for minor sins because the major sins will not be pardoned without sincere repentance.
