It highlights the negligence and lethargy of leaders like Kh. Nazimuddin who failed to take timely action against those 4 students who rose up against Quide Azam when he declared that Urdu will be the official language of Pakistan. One of those 4 students was appointed a CSP officer during Yahya regime.
The book points out leftist leanings of Altaf Gauhar who supported leftist organizations of former East Pakistan at the cost of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan. The Book also reveals failure of Qudratullah Shahab to address the grievances of East Pakistani writers and intellectuals. He wanted to give lesser seats to them compared to West Pakistanis, as he thought they have 4 languages compared to one language of east Pakistan.
From hindsight I can say that in order to save the unity and territorial integrity of the country, English could have been retained as official language and Bengali and Urdu could have been made provincial languages.
The book points out that West Bengalis had killed hundreds of thousands of Muslims of Bengal and Bihar, taking advantage of their majority. Poor Biharis were massacred when they were Indians, marginalized when they were East Pakistanis and neglected when they came to West Pakistan. May Allah reward them for their patience and resilience.
