{Islamic Mailing Group} Fasting Aashoorah.

We fast Aashorah... as an expression of Shukr... because victory for the believers in every TIME, PLACE and UMMAH is VICTORY for the DEEN!
____________

Verily, Allah's victory for his Awliya in every TIME, PLACE and UMMAH is
• VICTORY for the Truth,
• DISGRACE for Batil (falsehood),
• HUMILIATION for the arrogant and
• BLESSING for the Mu'mineen
until the Day of Judgment.

Every Mu'min (believer) becomes happy with it - because in it, is VICTORY for the Deen of Allah.

In this month - the month of Muharram - were rescued Prophet Moosa (alaihis-salaam) and his people.

O people, verily rescue of the Prophet of Allah Moosa (alaihis-salaam) and his people from the enemy of Allah, Fir'awn and his army, is a big blessing which necessitates Shukr (gratitude, thankfulness) to Allah, the Exalted.

O Allah, we thank You for the defeat of the enemies of Allah, and victory for the Awliya of Allah!

It is for this reason when the Messenger of Allah came to al-Madina and found the Jews fasting the 10th of this month - the month of Muharram - he asked, 'What is this?'

They replied, "This is a good day, this is the day, when Allah saved the children of Israel from their enemy, and Moosa fasted on this day."

He (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, "We are closer to Moosa than you!"

So he (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) fasted on this day, and told the people to fast on this day.

And when he was asked about its virtue, he replied "Fasting the day of Ashoorah, I hope Allah will expiate thereby sin of the previous year." [Saheeh Muslim (1162)]

O Allah, guide us to thank You for your blessing, and perfect your worship, and give victory to your Awliya over your enemies - Ya Rabb of the Aalameen!

Be different from the Jews!

In addition to the day of Aashoorah (i.e., 10th Muharram), it is Mustahab to fast either;
• the day before Aashoorah - i.e., 9th,
• the day after Ashoorah - i.e., 11th,
• one can also fast all three days - i.e. 9th, 10th and 11th of Muharram.
