In Reply To The Allegation : "Salafi's Give Fatwa Against Eid-E-Milad-Un-Nabi But, I Have Never Seen Any Salafi Scholar's Fatwa Against The Celebration Of Saudi Youm-Ul-Watani " [National Day.]
All praise is for Allaah, Lord of all the Worlds, who ordered us to follow His Messenger (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) and to call to His Way, and may Allaah send praises and blessings of peace upon our Prophet Muhammad (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam), and upon his family, his Companions, and those who truly follow them until the Day of Judgment. Whenever our Ulama prohibit Ahlul Bid'aa Wal Hawa (people of innovation and desires) from inventing and practicing new matters in deen, instead of taking advice these people come up with strange and silly objections displaying their usual ignorance. One objection is that if celebrating Meelaad incorrect then how come celebrating National Day is correct according to the Islamic Shari'ah? Before replying and presenting the verdict of the Salafi Ulama on celebrating National Day, we would like to highlight on the status of Ulama. Allaah Ta'ala has clearly stated that, the most fearful of Allaah among mankind is Ulama (Scholars) due to their knowledge of Deen. Allaah Ta'ala has made the Ulama inheritors of the Prophets; they explain to people their religious duties and enlighten them. They spend their lives in learning & teaching Ilm, passing Scholarly judgments, seeking little from this world. Thus, the ignorant must revert to the Ulama to learn the Haq (Truth). Now, with regard the issue of Celebrating National Day, a lengthy question was asked to the Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta` Saudi Arabia, regarding the Islamic ruling of Celebrating Meelaad, Mothers day and National day .. This question was answered by Shaykh `Abdul-`Aziz ibn `Abdullah ibn Baz & Shaykh `Abdul-Razzaq `Afify (rahmatullah alayhim) in the below manner. Fatwa No. 9403 www.alifta.com Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta` Saudi Arabia. Firstly : `Eid (festival) means in Arabic what Ya'ud (comes again) of gatherings on a habitual manner. It may come again in a year, a month, or a week. Therefore, the word 'Eid means a day that comes again as `Eid-ul-Fitr (the Festival of Breaking the Fast) or Friday, the gathering on that day and what is done of acts or worship and habits on that day. Secondly : Anything that is meant to worship Allah, seek to be closer to Him to get reward through doing so or anything meant to be similar to disbelievers and the like is a Bid'ah that is included in the saying of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) : "He who innovates things in our affairs for which there is no valid (reason) (commits sin) and these are to be rejected." This Hadith was reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim. Celebrating the Prophet's Mawlid, Mother's Day, and National Day fall into this category.
The first one includes an act of worship that was not legislated by Allah. Moreover, it contains similarity to Christians and other disbelievers. The second and the third are prohibited as it is imitating disbelievers. Whatever is in the interest of the Ummah (nation) and arranging its affairs as the week of the traffic, arranging the times of studying, holding meetings with employees to arrange work and the like are not acts of worship, they are of the innovated habits that are not included in the saying of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) : "He who innovates things in our affairs for which there is no valid (reason) (commits sin) and these are to be rejected." Then, there will be no blame in doing so.

May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions! - The Above Fatwa Is A Clear Reply To All Those Individuals And Groups Who Accuse Our Scholars For Being Biased. "O Allaah! Show us the truth as truth so that we may follow it, and show us falsehood as falsehood, so that we may abstain from it." Ameen.
