| | الأضحية ABOUT THE OBSERVANCE In observance of Eidul-Adha and the Sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim (alaihi as-salaam) there comes the significance of Udhiyah (also referred to as Qurbani) that corresponds the conclusion of Hajj (pilgrimage). Standing for one of the most precious rituals in Islam, Udhiyah reminds us of the exemplary obedience of our father, Ibrahim (alaihi as-salaam) to Allah SWT. Thus Udhiyah acquires a unique quantity of significance in our lives as Muslims. لَن يَنَالَ ٱللَّهَ لُحُومُهَا وَلَا دِمَآؤُهَا وَلَـٰكِن يَنَالُهُ ٱلتَّقۡوَىٰ مِنكُمۡ ۚ Their flesh and their blood reach not Allah, but the devotion from you reacheth Him. [Quran 22:37] Prophet Muhammad (saws) was asked, 'what is Qurbani? He answered, 'It is the Sunnah of your father Ibrahim. For every hair of the Qurbani you receive a reward from Allah.'
