CAIR Ads Promoting Diversity Go Up on Buses in Florida

(TAMPA, FL, 11/12/13) -- The Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-FL) said today that advertisements the organization produced to promote diversity and respect for civil rights went up on buses in Hillsborough County.

CAIR-FL's ads feature a photo of eight CAIR staffers and the group's logo, with the message: "Embracing Diversity at Work, Defending Civil Rights in The Community." They had initially been blocked by the Hillsborough Area Regional Transit (HART) board of directors, but that rejection was reversed after an appeal to the board.

"We are pleased to finally see our ads up on area buses and helping to promote  mutual understanding and respect for the rights of all Floridians," said CAIR-FL Tampa Executive Director Hassan Shibly.

CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
