This past Tuesday, CAIR-Florida partnered with the University of Central Florida's Muslim Student Association to host a Rally Against Hate Speech. This event was part of a movement to bring awareness to Jonathan Matusitz, a bigoted professor in the UCF communication department, who is so bad the Pinellas County Republicans canceled his talk which they say "bashes an entire religion." The peaceful event, which attracted over 50 students from all walks of life was picketed by members of Matusitiz's group ACT! For America (his online CV, p. 28, lists him as holding two positions with the group under 'Community Service' though he denies being a member to the media). They were clearly trying to provoke the students with hateful signs and constant interruptions with offensive outbursts like "Muhammad is a murderer and pedophile!" and "Matusitz speaks the truth, Islam causes terrorism!" which ironically showed how very prevalent and inappropriate anti-Muslim hate-speech really is. UCF's MSA and student allies remained calm, cool and collected, proving that the best way to counter hate-speech is to call it out with more free speech!! UCF's Dean of the College of Sciences, Dr. Michael Johnson to whom Professor Matusitz reports, was at the rally. Email him and ask him to investigate Matusitz's connections to ACT! For America, and his course 'Communications and Terrorism'. Watch Matusitz UCF lecture 'How Culture Shapes Terrorism' where he argues Islamic culture (as if it's all one thing) teaches Muslim to kill non-Muslims, that the audience must resist the Muslim takeover, like what we're seeing in Europe. Contact Dean Johnson today!!!
